Overall, myself and my Husband were not impressed.
He accidentally booked a table for the outdoor area. Fair enough - that is his mistake.
Upon arriving the host confirmed this with us - I was surprised and asked if there was anything inside. The mixed raced young lady who was hosting laughed at me and said "no, we are fully booked". I asked if it was warm outside... Now this may seem, at first blush, to be a stupid question but considering the weather isn't exactly 30 degree heat, one would have assumed she knew I was meaning whether there were heaters out there...
Instead she made a sarcastic remark and said "it's same weather out the front, as it is at the back". Not particularly the response I am expecting.
And considering she then tacked onto the end of her sentence that there are heaters in the umbrellas, she knew exactly what I meant. So, whether she thought she was being funny, or whether she as purposefully being obnoxious I am not sure but it was not welcomed and for the sake of clarity, it was rude and uncalled for!
Moving on.. the heaters she referred to were 4 small heaters positioned under a very large umbrella which did little to nothing to make a difference to the harsh wind!
Anyway... a meal for 2 consisting of only mains, 2 cokes and a pint of peroni set me back £52.80. Make sure to double check your receipt! I didn't check and they kindly whacked a service charge on there!
The peroni itself was £7.00 - I expect those sort of prices in central London! Not in a village on the outskirts of Surrey!
The food was average. The pesto pappardelle was nice, slightly too salty for my liking but the portion was very small, despite being £16.50!
Overall, for our first time trying this place, it was a poor experience.
I asked for a VAT receipt and was told that the VAT number at the top of the receipt was sufficient for VAT purposes. It isn't! In summary, the host was rude and obnoxious. The rest of the staff were pleasant and nice to engage with.
The food was average but overpriced, as were the drinks.
We won't...
Read moreWent in for an impromptu quick dinner yesterday with my daughter, on arrival the place was fairly empty, We were seated, ordered, received drinks and starter fairly quickly. After that it was all down hill. It started filling up and others had received their mains after arriving after us, and an hour in we were still awaiting ours; only a spag bol and a breaded chicken. I would also mention at this point that there were tonnes of serving staff on duty, seemingly rushing around doing nothing. I went up to whom I later found out was the manager to inform her, no apology, no validation, just said I'll go check where the food is. She returned to just say it's being plated up now. Lucky us, I thought, after 1 hour of waiting! Again, no explanation ,no apology just indifference, and this is the manager we are talking about!! I was wound up and wanted to vent but she spoke over me and was just disinterested in what I had to say about her restaurant! When our food arrived, it was definitely NOT worth the wait, substandard. Shocking for a simple Italian dish like spag bol. My daughters chicken was dry and tasteless. No one asked if our meal was ok. To make matters worse there was a group of diners in there that were so loud I could barely hear myself think, they were quite boisterous too. We asked for some water which we had to chase after 20 mins. I was so annoyed by now I asked for the bill, which still had "service" on there which I refused to pay. The waitress was very sweet and actually listened as I explained why I wasn't willing to pay the service charge, showing more interest and maturity than the arrogant manageress who clearly has no clue about customer service, absolutely zero. Shame because it's a lovely venue and local for me, but I can assure you I will NOT be back. I will also make sure my large circle of foodie friends in the area know of my experience. That manageress needs to understand that location and venue will get you only so far but you will fail without good food and good service especially at...
Read moreThe worst place I have ever been for a bottomless brunch. Having read some other reviews, I can see that the narcissistic manager relies on cctv heavily, so I will refrain from mentioning specifically when I visited. I have noted below some observations and concerns after visiting here recently… Two bouncers working on the doors here, when we attended a bottomless, the venue was mainly full of women. Took payment as soon as we were seated, inc service charge, for bottomless drinks for 2 hours and a 3 course meal. When taking payment, the waitress tried overcharging us. I would say the quality of food was similar to an adequate microwave meal. The manager is one of the rudest and weirdest people I have ever met. I send her positive vibes as she clearly is dealing with some issues. The manager attempted to have us thrown out by the bouncers, despite us not being served our puddings. The bouncers actually managed to get us our puddings, which was the best customer service we received all night. The manager made the situation so uncomfortable and made us feel very unwelcome. She is not a very good business woman. The day after my visit, my PR said she visited the Spaghetti Tree on the same day as I did (at a different time) and described an equally poor experience. If you have a special event coming up, I wouldn’t risk going to this venue. The staff are rude, especially the manager. When we raised our concerns about paying for a course that we hadn’t had, I think she thought that by being rude to us we would just leave, or perhaps hoped we were too drunk to notice (which wasn’t possible due to the slow service). When she was clearly in the wrong, she asked security to escort us out… which they didn’t, because they could see we were being reasonable and just wanted what we had paid for. I will never return to this venue, as they ruined my friends special celebration. I will tell everyone I know not to visit this...
