EDIT:

Since my first visit I have returned here four times, unfortunately it has gotten progressively worse each time. On my latest visit, I ordered a side of Halloumi 'chips' which arrived as a piled + congealed mess of barely grilled Halloumi resembling nothing of chips/fries/crispy/coating that was implied with the name. A garnish of straight-out-the-bag dry undressed rocket was plonked on the side and a ramekin of uninspired slightly spicy tomato sauce. After having to ask for a folk and being too hungry to wait another 20 minutes for a side, I reluctantly ate the food. I can only assume there are new chefs with lower standards of what they are proud to let leave the kicthen.

After voicing my disappointment to the the waiter he blurted out an apology before quickly disappearing. When I queued up to pay, he returned to point me out and whisper in the ear of the woman taking payments who then didin't speak a word to me when I paid, unlike all the other customers who were asked how everything had been. Disappointed the chef would allow such food out the kitchen. Disappointed the till staff felt the need to shy away from unhappy customers and cement the bad customer service. Having worked in hospitality for 10 years, it is not hard to recognise when a establishment has become complacent.

So, I remove 2 stars from my previous review as the coffee is still good enough (although also worse) and the vibe/decor is still great, despite the food and staff having gone down hill.

First time visit after spotting on Google Maps. What a find! Great modern space, interesting cycling themed decor, good staff, decent flat white, amazing scones/cake. Will...

Great venue, really bringing Bovey forward.

It doesn't feel cramped and was plenty of space for storing buggies, bikes etc

Good coffee, almost up there with my favourite place in Totnes.

Cake was stored in a chiller, so a bit solid. I would reccomend this to be changed as 1. It made the cake's texture seem stale, and 2. It will make them go stale quicker than dry storage.

Staff were all pleasent, but will need to get a grip on things fast. There seemed to be a lack identification for where food and drink orders were going, even with table numbers. Our drinks went to 2 tables before we waved to say it was ours. We also got offered 4 or 5 rounds of toast, which seemed to go around the whole cafe. The person at the till was unsure on how the card machine worked.

I do however think that the majority of these things will be ironed out, and then this will be a great venue. I especially look forward to watching some of Le Tour on the large television

EDIT. Returned today 8/1/18 and many things have been improved. Table numbers are now written on order, a general area for seating was requested. Glass milk bottles are given with the number so it can be diaplayed.

Cake chiller is no longer on so biscuits and cakes are no longer solid. It wasn't as busy as the weekend, but staff seem to be getting a grip on things.

Glad to see that feedback is either being consider or had already been thought of.

TV was on today with some of road cycling on... not my cup of tea but...

Just had dinner at this place and could not wait to write my first ever negative review. Have been here couple times before with great service and quality of food but this time it was all negated by the attitude and unwillingness of the staff on duty to provide good service esp the lady at the counter. Though we went for a coffee but were tempted by the smell of curry on the curry night so decided to have dinner instead. The curries were good in taste but to our surprise nan bread was way undercooked .. took it back to them and they replaced it . Wanted to order another one by paying extra and the lady was so reluctant that cannot be explained. Hello , not asking for free food then why that attitude !!! And after all that when the other nan bread comes it is way undercooked and i am not sure if someone wants to eat Raw Dough . Seriously some training needed there. The attitude of the lady actually made us not complain again and rather write a review which is very unusual of me . But what can you do if the person managing the area is just cold and not bothered of service standards inspite of being in SERVICE...

Great food and a nice cafe! Stopped here because of positive reviews and I'm glad I did. It seemed popular with cyclists and had a nice atmosphere. There were good CoVID precautions in place and plenty of room. I ordered the mushroom and halloumi burger and was not disappointed. Very tasty burger and the chips and sides were great too; I'm not used to getting a dressed salad so that was a pleasant surprise. I asked for ketchup but didn't need it - the chips were cooked and seasoned pretty much perfectly. To cap it off I also had a strawberry milkshake, which was pretty basic, but you can't really go wrong with them and that's what I wanted. The staff were pretty quick and my server seemed to be having a great day. He was very cheerful and enthusiastic! When I'm next in the area I'll definitely consider going again!

Well, great place for cyclists, but don't let a lack of lycra put you off seeking it out: I turned up in leather and made welcome - I was on the motorbike; nothing else!🤣. A bit like a large industrial garage, the cycling theme is evident throughout, with cycles hung from the ceiling and even indoor parking for bikes. Simple menu but well sourced and presented. I felt slightly encumbered by what I thought was a sudden disability, as I seemed unable to manipulate my coleslaw and salad into my mouth, until I realised my choice of cutlery from the self service tray had presented me with a very mismatched knife and fork. The "upsold" tiffin was well worth it. Generous portion size. Excellent coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating. Toilets. Recommended

Atmosphere is really nice and cosy, we come here every time we come down to Devon. However, our experience today was disappointing . Firstly, one of the only big tables in the cafe was reserved, meaning every other big group was having to cramp together on much smaller tables. These people who had reserved the table showed up an hour and a half late, and got to keep their reservation. Secondly, the woman who came to clean our table was repeatedly rude to us, making snarky comments. Finally, we ordered two slices of lemon cake (costing £4 each) the size difference between the two is ridiculous, how can these cost the same amount? (Camera doesn’t really show how drastic the size difference is). Victoria sponge seems stale too.
