We stopped off last night on our way back from Plymouth for a quick bite to eat and a comfort break. There is plenty of parking outside and the disabled facilities were lovely and clean.
The restaurant was quite empty only a couple of families already tucking into their food, I left my wife to order while I used the facilities, it was quite a while after returning that we actually received our food, although there was nobody else waiting.
We returned to our vehicle and it was at this point my wife checked the bag we had been handed and it was found that we were missing some fries. Lucky she spotted that before we hit the A38 again. I went back inside and pointed out the error and was handed a bag with a larger portion of fries and an apology.
By the time we had gone down the hill towards Exeter, we opened the bag of food and discovered that the chips were already cold, my cheeseburger faired not much better so I quickly ate it before it could get any colder, which was an error I would pay for later as by midnight I was in agony from...
Read moreUnderwhelming. We don't do McDonalds very often these days as the overall quality of the food and service has dropped across most the outlets we have visited. However, a new menu item, the Big Arch, hunger and the recollection that this outlet was decent last time we visited drew us in. Arrived at the order point at 12.48, it was 13.13 by the time we received our food. As usual the burger was Luke warm, not hot and the patties dry, not sure if there were crispy onion in it or not as it was saturated with the overpowering sauce. Fries and the cheesy McCrispy were acceptable. The drink was ordered as a Coke Zero, not sure what we got, but it was Coke with something else flavouring it maybe vanilla? Oh, no serviettes offered or in the bag either. Fair to say the experience reaffirmed my original suspicion that we should have passed McDonald's by and eat elsewhere. McDonalds fall short of expectation every time and all my expectations are is to receive hot food, quickly that is well presented and not...
Read moreI am a regular visitor to this McDonald’s as it is easier to get to than the Marsh Barton and City Centre ones.
For the most part the restaurant is fine, however there are a couple of things I’ve spotted over my various visits that people should be aware of.
First and foremost avoid ordering to collect from the counter. This seems to be the least prioritised for food delivery and I’ve found myself waiting over 30 minutes just for a McFlurry. Drive thru is usually the fastest but can get very busy at times.
The decor of the restaurant is modern and nice, however cleaning seems to be lacking and it’s often difficult to find a table that is not still covered in rubbish. However that’s not entirely the staffs fault (seriously people it’s really not hard to take your rubbish to the bin after you’ve finished eating).
For a McDonald’s it is a nice restaurant and is usually the calmer of the three in Exeter. Especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours when it still gets busy, but not as bad...
