Horrendous experience - ordered one cheese burger and one vegan chicken burger.
The vegan chicken burger was a very average frozen piece but edible, however the ‘slaw’ absolutely stank and was very watery so what we had been given was clearly off, and this had seeped into the salad and chips so the rest of the meal could not be eaten. Same with the cheeseburger dish, of which the burger could not even be finished due to the same issue. We left half a burger and majority of fries on both plates, and all salad and slaw on both also.
The roll of the cheeseburger fell apart, the salad on both was tasteless and dry - the lettuce was days old and absolutely not fresh. The chips were very cheap frozen chips. We have pictures of the food from the visit and will be escalating this accordingly with the necessary authorities.
Awful customer service - three members of staff were stood behind the till clearly looking at our reactions to the food (that of disgust) as I kept trying to catch their attention and they looked completely through me. It took over 10 minutes since we had stopped eating leaving most of the food on the table for someone to come to the table. We could not tell anybody as soon as we encountered the issue unless we wanted to go up to the till and make a scene - it’s a table service establishment, so we expected someone to come to the table - especially when paying those prices. When someone came over, we politely mentioned the issue and two very rude members of staff were very confrontational and nasty and we were told they couldn’t and wouldn’t do anything about it as they were a small business! After back and forth, they begrudgingly reduced each burger by 20% but we still had to pay £32.86 for an absolute shambles.
We are used to eating in expensive eateries with good quality fresh produce, so were more than happy to pay the price on the menu and expected it to be quality, fresh food given it was £18 for one burger and £14.75 for the other. We actually chose to eat there after checking the menus and prices of other cafes and expected the food to warrant the price. However, the quality of the food was appalling and absolutely overpriced. Both of us have not felt well at all since our visit.
The ‘lemon dude’ drink that was £4 was mainly ice - I would not have known to order without ice as it didn’t stipulate it was served with a glass rammed full of ice.
Daylight robbery for an awful experience, service and now suspected food poisoning - certainly would not recommend. The response below to my initial review from the ‘owner’ just solidifies the experience and service received during the visit - dishonest, confrontational and completely unwilling to acknowledge our poor experience. If that had been done in the restaurant, there would have been no need to...

I was warmly greeted when walking in and given a choice of tables.
The environment is spotlessly clean, and I noticed how well the staff worked together.
The decor is modern and tastefully executed with also an outside area to relax in warmer weather.
The menu has plenty to suit everyone, no matter your appetite or dietary requirements.
When the food arrived, I was immediately impressed by the presentation and attention to how it was prepared as there was the right amount of avocado, two perfect poached eggs, Ciabatta was toasted perfectly with being overly crunchy and the butter used had a fantastic flavour complimenting the main piece with avocado.
I must not forget to mention that the coffee is really good.
Parking is on street.
My main reason for visiting Frinton-on-Sea is to do with walking, and I can now add this cafe as another good reason to travel 83 miles roughly 3...

The staff always greet you with a smile, they’re happy, enthusiastic, keen and professional. Their attention to cleanliness is outstanding, I’ve never seen them move between food and money without washing their hands and nothing is too much trouble.
The cakes are always fresh and the range is so great that there’s generally something new to try.
The breakfasty options include (but are not limited to) pancakes with maple syrup and bacon and a rather delicious breakfast muffin.
They stock a large range of vegan products which my strange friends have described to me as ‘sublime’ but I’m too busy working my way through the non-vegan dishes to try them.
Denni and Dan (the owners) should be proud of their little shop.
