We have used this chipshop for three years and always enjoyed our meals, but after the experience we recently had we will never be back. The waitress who served us was rude beyond belief to the point were we a party of six got up and walked out. Firstly when we came came in there was no one attending to us in the seated area. I went to the counter and asked. The waitress came out clearly upset we'd went to the counter, she immediately asked did we have a booking. In all the times we'd eaten there never were we asked this. Also several other groups of customers came in after us and not one was asked. We tried to order the midweek special thats we always have only to be told we can't have it yet it clearly says on the menu Monday - Thursday. I asked why and she started to ramble about 40% and we can only have medium and large cod. So we ordered some 15 minutes had passed and people that came in after us were having they're hot drinks served. When I asked were our drinks order were considering they were all cold drinks she started to shout across the restaurant at us THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING MADE! WE'D RUN OUT OF BANANAS FOR THE MILK SHAKE!IS THAT OK! which somewhat baffled us as the drinks all come ready made in a bottle. We had brought some people who were visiting from abroad to experience fish and chips for the first time. The ones that understood English were horrified at this woman's level of rudeness. We at that point got up and walked out. This is a real shame as we really liked the Golden fillet and visited at least once a month. Sadly we will never return again as we won't be spoken like some stray dogs who've wondered in...

Firstly I would like to say the food we had here was really lovely and would have got at least 4 stars... However, when we first arrived there was a little confusion over the booking and how the order was going to be taken. After being correctly informed that are order would be taken at the table we ordered drinks and our food. They arrived in a timely manner and was freshly cooked. After about 5 or so minutes we were asked if everything was ok, not my favourite part of eating in restaurants but I understand why they do it, after another 5 minutes the waitress came back and started clearing our table, we were still eating our meal! I paused to speak to my Mum and the waitress was back removing my plate when i hadn't even finshed eating. In all honestly i was so shocked that we didn't say anything at the time. I swiftly move my can of drink away as she was coming back and I really wanted to drink it before it too was taken away. I can't really blame the staff, they are young and inexperienced but they really do need...

Fancied fish chips as it had been a while (we're talking years) and decided to pop in the Golden Fillet as it has a reputation (well deserved) for being a nice fish and chips shop. On arrival you're greeted by the friendly staff and order your food at the back. Whilst ordering I noticed they have a lovely seating area (if you wanted to eat in) so I placed my order and decided to sit down and wait. Whilst waiting I noticed the offers (fantastic) that are available throughout the week, now fish and chips isn't cheap nowadays but at the Golden Fillet there's a weekly deal you can get that's unbelievable which means I can now treat myself and my partner on a regular basis. If you're looking for good value, great food and fantastic service do yourself a favour and pop in, I cannot wait for my next time. Might be worth adding I grew up in fish and chip shops as my parents had several over the years, I absolutely loved my food from here and fish and chips is a...

Walking towards the shop, it was immediately evident that this was a popular chippy. On entering, the shop felt large and inviting, with staff who appeared happy and friendly. I opted for the large cod and small chips, which paired perfectly. The fresh, chunky cod was encased in a delicious, light batter that was crispy and not in any way stuck to the fish inside. The chips were thick and crisp, with a delicate texture and soft, flavoursome potato centre. The mushy peas were just how I like them – thick and plentiful. The battered sausage, I have to say, was a real highlight. Meaty as expected, but with that light, fluffy, crispy batter, it was even more enjoyable. 🟠 Cooking in: Oil 🟠 Payment: Cash or Card 🟠 Hygiene Rating: 4 🟠 Fish Reviewed: Large Cod 🎥 See the full video review on The Chippy Tour YouTube channel:

I previously review this place 5 stars two years ago (see picture attached), how the mighty have fallen. The last two times I’ve been here I’ve experienced problems, today being the second just proves to myself this place has gone very much down hill. I ordered two items today and one was missing how can you get battered sausage and chips wrong, the female staff even told me what my order was when handing it to me. Not realising their mistake until I got home a portion of chips cost me £6.50, previously they missed a large chips on an order of 3 chips and a curry sauce. I can only score on the food they provide and £6.50 for a portion of chips (as they missed the battered sausage) is absolutely terrible price considering the quality. Shame as this is local to me however I will not be returning nor do I recommend.
