Me and Dad went in there and had one of their Specials 'Meat Lasagne with Salad and Chips'. It was really lovely! Hot and well cooked. The Chips were crispy but not overcooked! I am not usually a fan of Lasagne, but I really liked this one!! The Service was good too, we were shown to a table as soon as we went in. The setting I loved! It was cozy and welcoming! Dark Oak round tables with comfortable carver type chairs. Oak beams in the ceiling. It may not suit everyone's taste if they like a more modern setting. But we loved it! Would like to come again when Dad can take me, Dad was impressed as well. Fully recommend it!! Since writing this, we have been put off coming here again. Really disappointed as I really did like this place. We chose a table that was near the door, the door was open, I agree it was warm at the time, the time was evening time and it had cooled down a bit. We had been coming here due to a family emergency and eating here was helping us out from all of the stress. Anyway when Dad and I recieved our dinners, Dad felt a draft that was starting to cool his dinner down, he politely asked a member of staff to put the door too, unfortunately the style of door was that it could only be closed. We were treated coldly after that as if we were mad, but who would like to eat a cold dinner that the chef had put a lot of hard work into? We came again yesterday. The only tables we offered by this member of staff were drafty, we couldn't sit at either of them, we politely asked if we could have another table and explained why. We were offered another table, but the point was it was the attitude of the staff, we were not nasty, we did complain, but anyone would do if they didn't want a cool dinner, they are entitled to. So disappointed! As I said we don't feel welcome here anymore. What a shame and we did share banter with the staff as well before this all happened. I've done customer service and you don't treat...
Read moreI don't usually leave long detailed reviews like this but it genuinely reuined mine and my girlfriends evening.!
Had an absolutely horrible experience here. Genuinely the worst restaurant i have ever been into. We were sat on a small table by the kitchen & bar entrance with high foot traffic from staff & customers, we waited over an hour for our food during wich the wait was accompanied by other customers bums being inches from our table which we were expected to eat on, so we then asked to moce seats and were told we'd be put on a waiting list for a table. Which would mean waiting further for our food, so i asked a lady if we could cancel our food order and just pay our drinks tab, to which she declared i would still have to pay for the food because i had already ordered it.. so we sat back down after having a bit of an argument. Then the lady brought our food oyt which was not bad but i only had ham, egg & chips. But half way through our meal, we saw another table being moved by a waitress who was pointing at us clearly showing were were the reason the elderly party were being evicted from there seat and moved to the bar, so me & my girlfriend went over to the table during oyr food and insisted they remain seated, but the waiting staff had already began moving our half eaten dinner & coats.! After my girlfriend and i finished our meals abd paid, we went to appollogise to the other party about the intrusion on their evening, and it turned out to be one of the ladies first birthday celebrations after her husband having died and herself being diagnosed. 10/10 will not be recommending or returning... Because we'll probably be in hell after having made a terminally ill lady & her...
Read moreWe have always gone here for our meals even before this pandemic as its a beautiful pub and friendly staff, and the meals second to none, however, after going there for a meal this week I dont think I could go again unless big changes took place. Apart from having to wait 45 mins to queue up to have your food order taken it then took over an hour for your food to be served, we got there at 6pm did not get our food until 8.10pm! Ok you could accept that given the new rules but what I disliked the most was when they bought you your cutlery and meals they leaned all over you and were not wearing masks, if they want to do that then they should wear a mask! They used the same two cloths to clean the tables, ok they may have antibac or something on said cloths but they used the same cloths for each table and left said dirty cloths on tables to collect glasses which resulted in people coming in and sitting down at a table that had not been cleaned. It may be my way of thinking but after going to another pub in the area to eat where they had paper menus that you threw away, all staff were wearing masks and no staff came near you, they put everything at the end of your table for you to help yourself to, every table was sprayed and cleaned with a paper towel so it was a clean towel for every table it just showed how it could and should be done! Things could be easily changed and put in place so people could feel safer when going...
