Went to Café Rio today. Ordered soup of the day, which was carrot and coriander. I am appalled at the portion size for the astronomical price!! As you can see from the photo's, it filled not even a 1/4 of a bowl. Disgusting. My mum's apparent "toastie" was just warm bread with un-melted cold brie. disappointed is an understatement (especially as we had waited a while for our order, they gave her the wrong sandwich and then we had to wait some more by which time my soup was cold). I know we have been through a pandemic and people need to make money but this is just plain ridiculous and daylight robbery. Won't be going back. Update - I see sally decided to post a generic response. What a token gesture to a customer, gives such hope of things changing 🥱 Might I suggest going over to "The Whole Food Store" for lunch and a pot of their dhal.... Then maybe you'll have a clue about food, and how not to rip people off. Best wishes

We stopped at the Cafe Rio in Manningtree after a quick sight-seeing tour of Flatford Mill. Was a great little pit stop, the cafe is quaint and cozy with an excellent menu, a laid-back vibe, and friendly staff.

I visited Manningtree yesterday & stopped here for a bite to eat for lunch. The coffee was really lovely, but just a bit disappointed with the sausage bap as there was more bap than sausage.

Hi Cafe Rio,

I thought I would take some time to review the best cafe in Manningtree.

I have been coming here for a long time now and travel from Colchester to do so, mostly during the weekend and also during the week when possible.

The quality of the food has never let me down and has always been tasty and nice, be it a breakfast, bacon sandwich, jacket potato or toastie. Not to mention the lovely home made cakes, sweet treats and my personal favourite the coffee!

The new take-away window is a superb addition and now you can even get a whippy ice cream, let's face it who does not love a ice cream by the seaside.

They honestly go out there way to cater for everyone and I know from what I hear that everyone's experience is the same as it's reputation proceeds it.

I couldn't finish this review without a special mention for the most important element, which makes this cafe the best and "that is of course" the staff they are really all hardworking, friendly and attentive who are constantly on the go all day to ensure that there customers have the best experience and without them the place wouldn't be the same.

I couldn't recommend the cafe enough and it really is the heart of the local community in Manningtree and is worth a visit (or two) by one and...

Before I start, I want to clarify that my experience is purely takeaway, I have not eaten in here.

When I went to this place a few weeks ago I got a great all-day breakfast bap, it was really lovely and gave me a great first impression of the place.

I came back today and, unfortunately, things have changed for the worse. They now have a separate window and menu for takeaway and it is not good.

To start, they can’t cook any type of eggs there and the menu is severely limited. We ordered a few sausage baps, and waited very long to receive them, despite the fact that I could see they were precooked and just warmed up on the grill. Additionally there were very few sausages in the bap and no sauce was offered on top.

It’s such a shame this change has happened as I really liked the place the first time I went. I’m sure it’s still a great place to eat in, but I cannot recommend it as a takeaway anymore. My first impression and the sit-in cafe are why this review is 2 stars not 1.

In terms of a takeaway it’s a 1 star,...
