The Pizza Place — Restaurant in Tendring

Been going to the Pizza Place for years. As of recently we’ve been disappointed on a few orders but have been returning due to some very good experiences (and lack of local options!)

Unfortunately our recent experience wasn’t great, after asking for a thinner base (which I recognise the technicalities, I have requested this a few times before and it has been explained) our pizzas were significantly smaller than our last few times, only slightly bigger than the garlic bread. I wonder if this is due to the gent as the chef tonight instead of the younger lady or the sizes being changed in the last few weeks since our last order. When the cost is £13+ it doesn’t help the disappointment either.

We will be returning as we do really enjoy these pizzas and their service but unfortunately left quite let down today.

I tried to order a pizza, but was told I couldn’t order one at the shop and needed to do so via a website. I went to their very outdated website, only to find out I needed to create an account. After creating an account and placing the order, I found out the quickest available time slot was 1 hour away (this was 5.30 on a Wednesday). The person working there assured me they would make it as quick as possible and gave me a buzzer to alert me when my order was ready. After waiting around for an hour, a member of staff eventually asked if I was waiting, and only then alerted me that the order hadn’t even gone through. Their explanation was the sometimes Apple pay orders don’t go through - very helpful. Eventually I gave up and went to the local Tesco to buy some...

We always went to Pizza Place as the pizza was good and being vegan it was relatively good cheese with some ok options and they were always open to changes which we appreciated.

There are now better option choices - but only on paper.

In reality the cheese is now rubbish - think the first ever vegan cheese style! A massive step backwards and a complete lack of flavour - even in the sauce which is a sloppy mess at best and masked by the sour fake cheese.

The garlic bread in particular has a horrid tangy after taste. The pizzas are now significantly lower in quality than they used to be - we won't be returning again...
