Castle Cafe — Restaurant in Tewkesbury

The coffee and cake in the morning was nice but when we went back for a toastie later in the day it was dire. Many items they had run out of and these were items on their regular menu and sure as hell not exotic or special. The queue at the till also seemed to take forever, and I am not quite sure why, just seemed to be a general mishmash of people behind the counter and not much order …. After having to change out original toastie option due to no pears for the pear stilton and walnut choice only to be told they had no brie left for the brie and cranberry option we got a refund and...

The card machine was down and so we had to go in to the shop to order our meals. There wasn't too long a wait when it was ready and we went to collect it from the shepherd's hut outside the seating area.

Food selection was fine, but could have done with some sandwich options or some plain choice in food for children. We had soup which was very good, but quite small.

We also had a couple of cakes later in the afternoon. The coconut sponge was outstanding! Super light, moist...

Terrible service, had to wait an hour from ordering for our food and they kept forgetting to bring things out. Ordered two gluten free meals that came out on non-gluten free bread and had to be sent back. When the food finally came it was nice but completely ruined by the wait and poor service. When we complained they said "sorry it always happens when lots of people come in at once" but it was relatively quiet, so I'd hate to go when it was...
