Strange experience all round. We booked for 6, the door was locked till 6. The staff seemed disorganised behind the bar, talking amongst themselves who was going to do what. The landlady took our order before we sat outside (there wasn't a kids' menu so all under 18s were offered pizza) and wanted paying upfront so we wouldn't have to keep track of tabs. Then on our way out, she asked if we'd paid! Aside from the disorganisation and apparent scatterbrained mood, the food was great 👍. I had pea risotto and my husband had the burger, which came in a black bun but he said was delicious. I would have loved to have a pud - there was a good selection - but our toddler was acting up.

We are two females walking the Cotswolds Way and arrived tired, hot and hungry to Winchcombe. It was like falling into welcoming arms: The Plasterers Arms; Liz, the proprietor's arms. So the Hotel, owned and operated by this wonderful human being, was an absolute delight. We loved the 500 year old decor. Stepping down from the Bar to the dining area was like walking into a carefully carved womb of antiques.

Excellent pub with delicious menu of traditional pub fare, especially enjoyed the breaded garlic chicken breast. Our whole party was pleased and Liz made us feel so welcome. Our rooms were pleasant and had lots of character. A nice place to stay as we have enjoyed walking the Cotswold Way with nearby attractions of Sudeley Castle and the Belas Knap (an ancient long barrow)

Having checked the reviews I booked a double room for one night. The cost was £90 and I paid a £15 deposit.|We arrived at the pub just before 5pm on a Saturday. It was closed and the door locked. I rang the landlady and she said she would come and let us in in 5 minutes. She had left a voicemail message for me that I had not listened to.|We were shown into room 1 and asked what we wanted for breakfast.|The room was spacious and airy, as per the description. However there were no facilities in the room at all. No TV and no tea/coffee making facilities.|The toilet and shower room was accessed by a short flight of steep stairs.|The toilet/shower room was spacious but looked very tired and worn out. The floor sloped down around the toilet and basin and was springy underfoot. It felt as though the floor had given way under the covering. There was a split in the covering near the toilet.|The floor covering was coming away from the front of the shower and there was a hole in the carpeted stairs.|The shower cubicle had black mold around the tray and around the plastic shelf and the the rail that the shower head was fixed to.|The shower head has placed on the shelf and when I used the shower I found that the head would not fit the holder on the rail so I was unable to use the shower in the usual way.|There was no information packs in the room and I had to call the landlady to get the Wi-fi password.|The room was spacious but looked very worn and tired. There were a couple of places where the wood chip wall paper had come away from the wall. The large sash window was in serious need of some renovation and redecoration. The paint was peeling off and some of the putty had come away from some of the glass pains.|There were no emergency instructions on the door and the door itself, was not a fire door.|We went out for the evening and I spoke to the landlady on our way. I told her about the shower and she told it was alright yesterday. I told it is not alright now and that I expected better for a room that cost £90 per night.|We spent the night. There was some machinery or generator that come on sporadically during the night. This was clearly audible in the room.|The breakfast was what I would describe as barely adequate.|The eggs were over cooked, there were a few slices of mushroom, half a tomato, a sausage and a hashbrown and bacon. There was soda bread that was barely toasted. Orange juice and tea. No cereal choice no choice of cold fruit juice, no choice of spreads to put on the toast.|I spoke to the landlady before we left. I told her how unhappy I was at the accommodation, the condition it was in, the total lack of facilities, and to cost.|I agreed to pay £50 for our stay, and with hindsight, that was too much.|My concerns are.|The reviews that I read bore no resemblance to what our experience was or what I saw.|There was no restaurant, and no food available apart from a basic breakfast.|The whole place looked neglected and in need of renovation and...

Whilst staying in Winchcombe for the week during the Cheltenham Festival we booked into a different pub or restaurant each night. Having had a fantastic meal at the Corner Cupboard and then an equally top class experience at the White Hart it was the turn of the Plaisterers next. We were warned by our taxi driver on the way to Winchcombe about the "Landlady" and her horrific personality but were sure what we'd been told couldn't actually be true, and, we were starving anyway. In we went and I must say that from the instant we walked into this place it was just a horror show. It was fairly busy and within seconds there was a person in another group being told off by a hard faced wench of a woman. I knew immediately who that was! The Landlady! Apparently this person was sitting in a seat he shouldn't but when he politely apologised and stood up at her request, he was snapped at again and told he couldn't stand nearby either. He was part of a larger group that quickly drank up and left. The landlady ignored our "excuse me" on 3 occasions before the barmaid stepped in and asked if she could help. We explained we had a table booked and asked whether we could be seated. We were shown to our table and left. Not the end of the world but it would've been nice to be offered a drink. We saw the landlady nearby and asked if we could get some drink only to be snapped at and told "go to the bar, you know where it is!" We were just a little stunned and thought that the attitude was appalling. The atmosphere in the place is dictated by her and it seemed that the 30 or 40 people in there were scared to talk. We handed the landlady the reserved sign and explained we wouldn't be eating there and began to leave. Literally every group in there were talking about quickly finishing drinks and moving on. I now understand why the locals don't go in there. I cannot understand how the woman can keep the business afloat being as disgusting as she is. The place is dirty and not that appealing anyway so maybe it will be a good thing if someone came in and updated the place, whilst replacing that vile creature in the process. The lion inn in Wichcombe got rid of a rotten landlady and the Plaisterers needs to do the same if it's to have any future. The Corner Cupboard and The White Hart were exemplary in their customer service with great food to boot. Avoid this place at all costs and...
