Seriously unhappy, both with the product provided &, more so, the dismissive response resulting from a viable complaint : Order of large cod, large chips, curry sauce, 2 cans drink - on unpacking once home found one can of drink missing, & the large cod most definitely wasn’t. The drink I would’ve let slip, these things happen, but the fish I felt ought to be brought to someone’s attention - I’m not immune to making human errors but once recognised that’s the opportunity to correct. On ringing to complain, which began with an “ I’m sorry but… “ I was passed to one Les, who immediately from my opening comment advised my ‘error’ would be down to my not understanding how fish is determined for sale. I tried to advise I’d had large cod from their premises before, & knew size being determined by both size & weight, but continued being addressed as tho aged in single figures, even the suggestion he might consider photos of the fish covering not half the bottom of the box, nor reaching any significant height up the cardboard side, were dismissed along with the apparent belief in relevance behind my call - Les being far more intent on responding with his explanation to my comments before mine were completed. The call ended on what came across as an implication from Les that, if I still held I had a viable concern despite his consistent talking over me, to return to Papa’s & he would sort me out - I gave my name for such a visit but do I want to take personal time & effort to be talked at & over l, on a 1-to -1 basis l, a second time ? - the missing drink is no great issue, the wrong size fish being inadvertently provided I can willingly accept, to be dismissively assessed & addressed in such a...

This ‘restaurant’ is an absolute disgrace; run by two abusive brother owners (Theo & Michael? ) who have no clue on how to treat customers; went in there once to see these thugs verbally abuse a polite young lady who purchasing chips from the takeaway section that weren’t quite right; it was plain to see the chips were stale & dry, instead of apologising they SHOUTED at her & threatened her !!!! I was there with my partner & we witnessed it!!!

For years this place has had a reputation for serving refried fish & chips – it’s main restaurant makes money mainly on day trips from older residents of care homes around the area; these poor mites are just enjoying a trip out & probably not noticing the disgusting ‘quality’ of food & service being dished out.

They’ve also been reported to Environmental Health on numerous occasions for various matters.

I’ve lived in the local area for years & most of us locals refuse to use this poor excuse of a business & are only too aware of the behaviour & conduct of these two men especially towards females.

Just because this place is housed in a nice building does not indicate quality or standards ; any so called ‘awards’ won probably arose from votes from any friends that they may have left, family or these older clientele.

There are plenty of other decent fish & chip venues around nearby, just don’t line the pockets of these people, they don’t deserve anyone's custom. Hopefully they’ll be convicted sometime soon & the business...

Papa's Fish and Chip Restaurant and Take Away is conveniently located alongside the A20 at Ditton, near Maidstone, Kent. Ditton is also easily accessed from the M20. The car park area is large. We had promised ourselves a fish and chip meal here for the past three years, but as we live in Dover, with a chip shop only 200 yds away, it seemed an unnecessary journey. I had an appointment at Benenden this particular afternoon, so thought we would make the day out longer with a drive and fish and chip supper. We could have driven to Cranbrook or Tenterden, both close by, but instead chose to visit Papa's forty minutes away. The reviews are good, so why not we thought. So glad we made the effort. Their website provides a comprehensive menu, with the offer to stay and eat in your parked car. We had a scampi dish each (11 pieces ). These were perfectly good, slight crunch and tasty meat. Beautifully cook chips, ( one bag between two would have been more than enough). Tartar Sauce, two bottles of apple juice. Cost about £32. Would we eat...
