Indian Ocean — Restaurant in Torridge District

Food was tasty. But as many people have said on here. Not ready on time, and kept being told it would be 10 mins. I even went in before it was due to be ready. To give them an opportunity to let me know if it would be on time or not. Since I had read online that their time keeping was rubbish. They had massssses of orders. And assured me it would. So off we went for a quick beer at one of the locals. Came back, when it was supposed to be ready. And it wasn't, another 10 mins.. Went off again, came back, nope.. Another 10 mins. This time we waited and 10, and many people were turning up to collect and being told it wasn't ready. We only got ours because another customer complained and kicked right off, he misheard her, for the name of the order and went and prioritised hers. Which turned out to be mine! Felt very sorry for the front of house staff, it wasn't there fault. They were still answering the phone taking orders and telling them they would only be 50 mins. Our food was meant to be ready in an hour from when we ordered it, and it was over half an hour late. Just tell people the actual time it will be ready!!!! And sort your online ordering system out so people can't all order for the same...

Something is going wrong at Indian Ocean. But that means massive opportunity to improve.

As an experienced consumer and regular cook of Indian food, I have been using the restaurant for 2 years.

Until my last order I have always been impressed by the quality of their cooking and good varied flavours. Amongst the best that I have experienced. And that includes restaurants Shimla Pink in Birmingham and some in Brick Lane London.

My last order was Chicken Tikka, and Chicken Vindaloo. All chicken was stringy and over dry.

And I was asked by a friend this week what I thought about Indian Ocean. His observation was flavourless, and non descript dish to dish. As if the same sauce was being used in each recipe.

Lets hope that they return to their normal impressive...

I read some of the reviews on here and was a bit worried about what I would get when I ordered a meal for delivery but it's the only Indian takeaway I could find. I thought the prices were ok if the food turned out to be good. My food arrived and I was very pleasantly surprised at the generous portions. The food was piping hot and smelled delicious. When I ate the food, I can honestly say it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had and I've had lots from all over the world. I wished I had an Indian takeaway like this where I live. I can only assume the bad reviews are from people that either have a personal axe to grind with them or they have a really odd standard in food. Will try and get another...
