They may be new to the M33 dining scene, but Timy and Elissa, the new owners of Alanya Restaurant (formerly VIDA, Northenden Road) bring with them many years’ experience, serving exotic Mediterranean (and further eastern-inspired) cuisine to the good people of Greater Manchester.
Upon arrival, you’ll be made to feel completely welcome by the passionate and hospitable owners, who are complimented by quirky and vivacious waiting staff (you know who you are!). You’ll feel completely at home and know you are in for a good time. If a booth is available, you won’t regret occupying one and gracing your table with a bottle of the Chile’ Sauvignon Blanc (the BEST
Read moreMe and my friend stopped by and we thought we’d give it a go since the early bird menu seems very good value for money. We were seated- it was quiet but that’s okay, the tables are laid nicely and the decor is fit for function. Our waitress was friendly.
I ordered the POLPETTE LA SUGO (meatballs) starter…bland. Really really bland. Come on guys! Seasoning is basic! The meat itself is also rather tasteless and like cardboard in texture. Sauce is watery and lukewarm, no richness, warmth, spice or depth that you’d expect from Italian dining. My friend ordered MOZZARELLA FRITTI which just looked a bit sad sat on a handful of withered lambs leaf lettuce, drizzled with balsamic glaze…outdated.
We were hoping the mains might have some hope. Wow. Chicken was overcooked, topped with the cheapest macro pepperoni and a bland sauce. Risotto was undercooked. Not an inch of taste and precooked chicken pieces strew throughout.
I wasn’t expecting fine dining but my god guys, please get the basics right before saying you’re authentic Italian!!! Authentic Italian can be done on a budget- but requires a love and care and at least a scrap of knowledge of food.
I don’t know if we caught you on a bad day but for the love of Italian cooking, not a...
Read moreI'm so sorry to leave a bad review but I had a very rare kid free evening and was starving so I was very much looking forward to this meal however I was disappointed. It seems that money is spent on the beautiful decor rather then the quality of the food. You get very little for your money unfortunately. My partner had the chicken liver pate and it was inedible, it tasted bizarre to be completely honest and if anything it tasted off so that was £6.50 down the drain. My homemade donner was ok ish. A decent amount of meat but no typical cacik (cucumber yogurt) to serve with it and instead it tasted like mayo. The chips were terrible too, very greasy and overdone and my partners chicken was as he put it 'something out of a ready made meal'. I don't usually complain at restaurants but I found it all inadequate so felt the need to say something. We were very kindly offered a dessert though. All in all a very average meal for an expensive price. It's so sad because the decor is beautiful but the food for us let it down. A Saturday evening should be heaving yet it was so quiet and their neighbour restaurants were extremely busy. I wouldn't return unless they hired a new...
