Osteria Pizza — Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells

Wow! Superb! A few days ago I had difficulty ordering late at night and sent a message explaining I had trouble registering my address. Within the hour the manager called me and we discussed the problem. Really it was out of his hands but he apologised and I promised I would try again. Well I did and it was so worth the wait! The problem was fixed and I went to town trying out menu options. Amazing packaging - everything arrived in top condition- pepperonata like it was served fresh to our table with vegetables that tasted like they had just come off a long-heated caribbean style barbecue - hottest takeaway fries ever and the burger was engagingly hot but somehow the delicate brioche bun was still intact, not a mushy mess. All the packaging looks recyclable and worked really well so top marks there. Sometimes the burger from takeaway places is little more than a starter but this was a proper satisfying monster of meatiness! Great patties (two of them!) and satisfying amounts of pickle and cheese. I went for the gorgonzola option and you can really taste the cheese. The pizza was bespoke and exactly as hoped for with generous n'duja sausage which I had only encountered before in very trendy East London pizzerias. The base was delightfully non- generic and clearly hand made. Lots of tasty fresh olives and cheese. Delicious! Delivery was prompt, covid secure and courteous. Cannot fault the experience, looking forward to our next delivery and will try to get a table for a proper night out at the earliest...

I'd consider it for a takeaway, but sadly wouldn't bother visiting for a third time.

Two years ago I had an amazing experience and gave this place 5 stars. Decided to return as I was in the area. The pizza remains exceptional, but unfortunately it was let down by other things this time.

They didn't have any of the first choice drinks of our party (a beer, a cider, and a wine from their menu). The manager was grumpy and unpleasant. She spent most of her time flirting with a customer at a different table and didn't seem to care about anything else. The younger server did her best but I felt she was not sufficiently supported and needed some better basic training. I didn't notice so much but someone else in my group complained to me about the music (which had swearing). For some reason one of the best tables (booth) had various untidy electrical cables strewn over it and a computer printer next to it. The renaming of the restaurant seems like a weird marketing move, especially considering there are signs remaining on the wall with the old name. Awful service. Only 2 tables so no excuse that very busy. Mains came before starters and then told we should have specified. The clue is in the name 'starter'. And we did ask for starters first. My wife asked for mushroom, rocket and chili pizza. Received no rocket and covered in parmesan which was never requested and ruined the dish. Also noted that charged for full pizza and then additional toppings which hardly seemed fair. Noted only other table behind also had plates returned. No service to check if food OK or apology for messing up order. No offer of seasoning etc had to ask. Then tried to clear table whilst I had slice if pizza in my hand and was eating.
