Everyone of our friends said this was a great place to go to so having a day off we visited TN1 for some lunch. When we looked at the menu and we couldn't see any indication what dishes were gluten free so when ordering with the waiter we asked if the burger was gluten free, he said he yes (gluten free bun) We waited I think about 15 - 20 minutes for the starter to turn up (I would say there were 5 to 6 other tables in there) when the waiter turned up he only had one dish, we were trying to work out what he was saying and eventually it turned out that my wife's starter wasn't gluten free (chicken satay) having this told to you at this point wasn't a good start. It would have been too late for my wife to order another starter as mine was getting cold (frozen prawn tempura at £9.00) So a little pissed off we persevered, the waiter didn't come over at all though the meal to ask if everything was alright, I had to get the attention of the lady behind the bar to get some more drinks (she was very polite and hoped we enjoyed the drinks) however a dog that turned up with its owner who was a friend of the owners got more attention from the waiter than we did, what did worry me was that he was stroking and interacting close to the dogs face with his hands and then he went straight to the bar to pick up clean wine glasses and then serve food without us seeing if he had washed his hands. The burger was ok (£17.00) but nothing to write home about. The problem is with today's cost of living when you spend £80 for some lunch you expect it to be to a certain standard. The sad thing is that when you have a bad experience at a place you will certainly tell more people about it. We won't...
Read moreEn route heading back to London on a Sunday, we decided to grab food with us only wanting one thing. A Sunday roast. However with many pubs in the area we called around, checked reviews, even walking into some establishments that were always busy. On our hunt we came across TN1 Bar and Kitchen, and after visiting my outlook on bars has changed when it comes to getting a roast.
Firstly when you walk into this bar, it's extremely modern, with a hint of quirkiness. It was nice & open with a lovely atmosphere that was busy yet chilled, and luckily a table of 4 was waiting for us. Whilst waiting to decide on our order we were pleasantly greeted and served drinks, before putting our order in which was easy from all the views and smells from other customers' plates.
When your food arrives at the table so will a big smile on your face, as straight away the presentation confirms we made the right decision. The Pork Belly Roast dinner I had was not cooked to perfection, but is perfection. Everything on the plate held its own, dazzling my taste buds from every bite giving me that that homely Sunday feel inside. The portion size is perfect and if you have this without a starter, you'll feel more than satisfied yet in my case I forced what I couldn't eat as it was too good to leave on the plate.
You can tell every detail was well thought through with the decor and menu options; wanting to give customers a great experience to ensure they return. If I lived near TN1, you'd find me here every Sunday...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend booked for Christmas lunch at 2pm paid a £60 deposit of a £90 per person set meal we arrived 30mins early to enjoy a coffee before our lunch we was welcomed and seated the waiter was very sarcastic towards my boyfriend when he ordered our drinks, we waited about an hour for our starters which was ok nothing special the waitress picked up our starter plates and said are you ready for mains my boyfriend said can we wait 15 mins two hours later we had to ask if we could have our mains. people seated after us were served before us, when our mains arrived we was both so disappointed the 2 potatoes and 2 round slices of turkey was piled up covering our very small amount of vegetables which was just warm not hot. When booking I asked if we could have Yorkshire puddings as they were not served with the meal I offered to pay extra as our food was pre ordered I still had to ask for them the waited brought them to the table and said here's your yorkshire and flung them across the table the Yorkshires were cold and so burnt and hard I went to speak to a female waitress who was very rude and said well no one else has complained I then asked for the managers to speak to me the manager offered us to still have our deserts which I think is a joke I explained that the service and meal was not acceptable me and my boyfriend decided to leave the restaurant after still having to pay for our coffees . This was our first visit to TN1 I very much doubt we will...
