Popped in for a bit of breakfast and at first all was fine ordered off a young lady sat down at a table and waited. And then as I was waiting the craziness started, the guy running it I guess with the hand issues (probably shouldn't be handling food) told me the table i was on is reserved... no sign to be seen anywhere, he then said I was eating out incorrectly which I replied no but moved either way just to be polite. And then the chap walks round to the front where I was sitting and said they he will give me a discount for the inconvenience or something which I replied I've all ready paid. To which I said extremely passive aggressively "I was only telling you ok" and stormed off with his funny hands. Should be ashamed of your service this morning won't be heading back to this spot unfortunately, thought the owners should be made aware of...

I only went here because when it was Black Dog it was good but wow this was a disappointment. The service was awful, after waiting 15 minutes for them to take our order we then waited another 20 minutes for our coffees to arrive - they arrived after our food and only because I had to go up and ask them ‘errrr where are our coffees?!’! The scrambled eggs are a grey limp mess, my child could make better scrambled eggs. The avocado is a pathetic portion of a few razor thin slices of pale avocado, daylight robbery. Overall a bit shambolic and none of our party of four would recommend, as you can tell. Go down the road to Juliet’s, Cote, or any other place as you will enjoy it...

Food was OK, bread was good as we're the scrambled egg's. My smoked salmon wasn't the freshest and was a pretty slim portion. If fact before my plate had hit the table, I asked for an additional portion and this portion was nicer. My sons breakfast burger was nice and my wife's breakfast stack was good. As this was my shout, when I went to pay, they didn't take cash. So my wife footed the bill 😄 not good when you offer to pay for breakfast. I gave 3 stars because of the above and we all left still a bit hungry. The higher you stack the food, doesn't make it any more filling and also a smile doesn't cost anything 😊. I would try it again, everything and everybody...

A very nice vegan lunch today in the Black Dog, with more spaced tables the pleasant atmosphere cultured by Mat the Australian is further enhanced. He says a cafe could not start up with only 70% of the covers. The Black Dog now have a very nice cool upstairs cafe space, the side window is wide open does not bring heat or road noise into this new space. I have updated my review but still top marks

To my fellow vegans: the best thing to me was that their tofu ‘Vegan eggs’ on toast are exactly the same price as their regular ‘Scrambled free range eggs.’ Shame that the same policy of not charging extra for vegan didn’t apply to oat milk in my flat white, for which I had to pay an extra 50p. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience, even with the busyness of a Saturday morning.

After finding out about this place I felt I had to go, since having been to St kilda in Melbourne and stayed a couple months. All coffee stood up to Melbourne standards and the food was excellent. We had brunch and it’s a great place to come for other meals too.
