Really excellent food, lovely well-kept beer, wonderful service and a great atmosphere. I’m sure it helped that we were there on a gorgeous sunny evening, but this place was a 10/10 midweek night out from our point of view! We both chose ā€œhot rockā€ options for our mains. That whole experience was fun, and worked particularly well out in the fresh air (we sat in one of the garden ā€œpodsā€, which were fab). Meat, sides and sauces were delicious, and the chips were incredible - crispy and fluffy and somehow stayed hot for ages! Highly recommend this pub - we will be back to try some other menu items, and particularly keen to leave room for an ice cream sundae next time.

With it's iconic eagle wing-spread mural, under which many a photo has been taken, the Spread Eagle Inn has more than just some well painted wall art to generate interest. On the Cask Marque Ale Trail, the beer is in excellent condition and there are invariably four or five to choose from. New-build outdoor marquees and booths, all Covid compliant, enhance the outdoor protected seating. Food, especially the 'Sunday Roast' is ever popular and booking a table is advised. Over-all, a pleasant and enjoyable venue and despite the pandemic strictures (all of which are observed as unobtrusively as possible) is still a venue worth a repeat visit.

A nice family owned pub that is dog friendly (except in the restaurant - but bar area is allowed). Also has nice outdoor huts for dining and well set up for Covid requirements. The food was a bit of a let down - ribs were not properly slow cooked so still had some connective tissue, and the burger meat wasn't great quality with chewy bits in it. The icecream sundae was nice. The menu is just a bit too big - would prefer to see less options, and more effort into getting each option right. Cost was quite reasonable.

I was with the WI Thursday 29th May. Two of us decided on the 10 pound menu. Salmon En Croute ....the salmon was over powered by the lemon sauce an I thought black bits with it was mushrooms šŸ„ but was told it was spinach! I thought the spinach should have been wrapped round salmon. The sauce was very over powering with lemon an the salmon had a very lemony taste. Pastry wasn't cooked on bottom bit an could have done with another few minutes šŸ™„. My friend totally agreed with me an she agreed that thier was far to much lemon sauce an sloppy salmon. I asked for a Pimms an Lemonade that never appeared. Dessert šŸØ was fruit ice cream well thier was more fruit than ice cream an to top it all I asked for a latte an got a black ā˜•ļø coffee! Thier was only two waitresses on the one who served us looked stressed an apparently 😐 the other one went on her break when desserts were taken out. Sorry šŸ˜ž but was not impressed at all infact Lidel's Salmon En Croute beats...
