Queens Drive Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Wakefield

Never again!! Been coming here years as a family for fish and chips. After today's visit we will never go back! Daughter doesn't like chips so she just wanted a fish on its own. No problem they bring her just a fish and then charge £12.50 for it! When questioning it the staff rudely stated "well she could have had chips or peas" yet at no point at ordering only a fish did they state it would be priced as a whole meal. Since the refurb this place has dropped its standards and service is shocking. Save your self hassle and go to a different place. Edit: in reply to you David, I am perfectly ok with the words I have written. At no point when we ordered just a fish were we told it would be done as a main meal regardless of not wanting chips side or drink! Had the staff mentioned this or stated you didn't do a fish only option we may have chosen something else. On other occasions we have visited it hasn't been an issue and was priced accordingly at about £6. How can a fish on its own be £12.50 yet fish and chips is £11.50? Are you ok with ripping off customers who have been regulars over many years and deem it OK to charge £12.50 for 1 fish? Which point of my review is misleading? If anything is misleading it is your pricing as stated above. The overall cost has nothing to do with my complaint and when you say 6 people you fail to mention that it was 2 children 2 adults and 2 senior citizens. First time visiting queens drive Ossett today what a lovely place, we sat in the restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. We ordered are starters and mains and the starters came out pretty quick, I had the prawn cocktail 10/10 everything fresh and tasted good, unfortunately my partner wasn’t overly impressed with her soup as it tasted like tinned soup which is absolutely fine but £5 for a tinned isn’t the best in my opinion. Mains arrived shortly after and we really enjoyed everything, the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips tasted great, I couldn’t recommend the fish and chips highly enough. I’m giving this restaurant a 4/5 star rating based on the food it would be a 5/5 star unquestionable, but the table service wasn’t great. I will definitely return for fish and chips, but I think I’d take away next time.

This really pains me to post because I’m a regular to this place and really love the food normally however, me and the wife had fish and chip tea last Saturday and it was a disappointment. We had fish and chips each. Small peas and small curry. The first fish was already done and ready but they had to cook another. So 1 fish was Luke warm even the chips were very Luke warm. The other was 1 piping hot fish and Luke warm chips. It was like they had been sat around for a while. In the shops defense it was around 8pm on a Saturday night so nearly closing time but when you are parting with £20 you expect it to be nice and hot.
