Cafe Vie The Bistro — Restaurant in Wakefield

Had the goats cheese, beetroot and avocado salad which looked lovely when it arrived but when I took a bite of the goats cheese it was actually wafer thin and sitting on pieces of bread which made it appear at least twice as thick. There was no mention of the bread on the menu and this is a salad costing £10.95. When the waitress came to ask if everything was ok I mentioned that the goats cheese was very thin but she just walked away. I left the bread but no one asked again if everything was ok when clearing our plates and nothing was mentioned when I came to pay, so after I’d paid I said it would have been lovely if the goats cheese had been the actual thickness of the bread but they just ignored me and unfortunately don’t seem to care. Don’t think I shall choose to be spend my time and money...

I’m becoming a big fan of this little gem! We’ve now been 5 times . I wish it was more local to me as I’d definitely be there more often. Breakfast last week was just great. Such a varied menu and all cooked and presented beautifully. I’ve done coffee and cake with friends which was a delightful treat. I’ve taken my granddaughters for lunch which they both enjoyed very much. Then there’s the special evenings!!! Rajasthani tapas I would highly recommend if they do another and then last Fridays Global tapas. A real delight for the taste buds! Food is always lovely and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We even met Michael, one of the chefs at the weekend… so we were able to thank him personally ( and have a chat about Indian regional specialities) I can’t recommend this place...

I recently celebrated my birthday with a breakfast at this fantastic café, and it exceeded all expectations!

I enjoyed the Full English breakfast, which was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavourful using local meat. My boyfriend had the Croque Madame, and he was equally impressed. The food was outstanding, and the drinks were equally delightful—my Iced Americano was refreshing, and the lemonade with dragon fruit was divine.

The service was exceptional from start to finish. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. The staff's professionalism and warmth truly made the experience special.
