Bitterly disappointed.
We turned up on time to find that they had no booking for a party of 7, despite it being booked weeks ago!!
We have been here before pre-covid and gave it a very good review, however after last nights family get together meal I have to retract that review.
Lets start with the starter of olives and feta, terrible, the olives were all misshaped with hardly any flesh on them and un-pitted. They looked like they were just leftovers from the crop. You can buy vastly better and cheaper from Aldi.
We ordered the meat meze for 2 which is £19 EACH. We got the dips and salad on a rectangle platter and then, 2 small meatballs each, 1 chicken skewer each (dry and over cooked) and three tiny pieces of beef stifado each (think just about the double size of a stock cube) and one small spring roll type of thing with cheese and chicken? Honestly the portions were so small my granddaughter could have polished the lot off and asked for seconds.
My brother asked for Kleftico Lamb, but they had no lamb, NO lamb in a Greek restaurant..so he opted for the mixed grill, now I have had the mixed grill before and when the owner brought it out he was laughing and challenged me to finish it, it was a big plate full. Last night? It was the size of a starter, in fact I have had bigger starters so I felt very embarrassed as I had recommended it and even warned him he had better be hungry, when it came out his first comment was "is that it".
Overall it was bitterly disappointing and we'll never visit or recommend this place again. I don't know what's gone wrong with this place but they need to have a look at themselves, it's gone from a premier eatery to somewhere to not even think about visiting.
Our bill for 7 people with a couple of beers each was £231 which averaged £33 per person with one of our party drinking lemonade as she was driving, it was maybe worth...
Read moreUpon arriving to this establishment we noticed there wasn’t much room to move about, the tables were to close together, we was aprouched by a man in a Christmas suit very joyful which we loved. We were seated straight away, the waitress asked if we would like drinks so we ordered. I then asked the waitress if there were any dips - her reply was yes we have dips I will bring them over, me thinking they were for FREE?..........no price was given I was not promted that the dips were priced....Then when it came to order our meals we were given a choice of the set menu and normal menu, with it been Christmas we ended up going for the set menu was it seemed at the time great value for money, the starter came was delicious I had the garlic mushroom, my partner has the lamb starter he said it was ok. Our mains came I ordered the chicken kebab and my partner the mixed, the main was ok. We then finished our mains then the lady asked if we would like our desserts she brought me fudge cake and my partner 3 scoops of ice cream- well this just wasn’t the case the ice cream was all one flavour and it looked liked just 1 scoop not very much there. when we was told they would be different. My fudge cake tasted very cheap! Overall I was disappointed we’d been told off friends and family it was simply amazing! So to come and it not be is just a shame. The prices are far to high our set meals and 1 drink each may I add my partner had an effes I had coke, all came to just short of £60!! We normally take a trip out to Leeds and pay that for a great meal so it’s a bit of a...
Read moreAlways been a fan of the Turkish/Greek sort of grills and what a little gem this place is in the middle of, out of all places, Pontefract (no offense to anyone from Pontefract). It's a pretty cosy establishment, about 26 covers max, but any place of that size and a focused menu set, typically means they can focus on the quality of the dishes, and boy, tonight's meal was a joy. For anyone going for the first time, I'd definitely recommend the mixed grill as it has a full range of lamb kebab, lamb chop, adana (which btw was awesome, right lamb mince consistency with the delicate balance of herbs and spices), chicken kebab and chicken wing. Rice was flavourful and the salad refreshing with the appropriate amount of dressing. Other half has the chicken Marmanis, which was indeed tasty, white wine sauce with the mushrooms just right without being too salty or sharp. Only a slight blip was a tough tendon in her piece of chicken - something that can be easily corrected I'm sure. Baklava for dessert is home made rather than shop bought so that's a massive positive for me. All washed down with a Turkish apple tea to cleanse the pallette to end a surprising but delightful evening meal. Service was excellent and attentive, the team there are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back and is an establishment we will bring friends and family to. A must visit. 5*. If the team are reading this?...
