Myself and my partner have eaten at Three Flames on 5 occasions and I have always rated the food and service highly, I have recommended three flames to many people however after last night my opinion has changed entirely.
We decided to go to Three flames last night, we arrived around 9pm as a walk in, we were seated with no issue and got table water within a minute of sitting down, everything seemed to be service as usual, however after 10 minutes we hadn't even had our drinks order taken, I was patient as it is Friday and the restaurant did appear to be busy however when I looked over at a table to the right of us I saw 4 members of staff cleaning 1 table, another 5 minutes later and still nothing, again looked around, 1 member of staff was stood staring into space, another 2 were having a chat, another was sweeping around the waiters area and another was doing the usual walking around checking on things, we were completely ignored. After 20 minutes of sitting there we decided to get up and leave having had nothing more than a few sips of water, even when walking out nobody said a word to us, the staff inside the main building didn't know if we had or hadn't eaten and didn't even give the usual friendly goodbye thankyou for eating here etc.
Staff were aware we were there and many had looked directly at us and yet still did not take a drink or food order. Having worked in the hospitality industry, particularly restaurants myself I found this behaviour to be shocking and completely unprofessional. This isn't a £10 mcdonalds, we were about to spend over £100 on steak alone, closer to £200 when you add in drinks, sides and sauces!!
I am a very understanding person and had the staff been rushed of their feet I would not be making a review atall but to have 6+ members of staff ignore you and leave you sitting for 20 minutes is completely out of order.
Date night ruined and home to cook. Will not be visiting Three flames again, after all the good experiences here this has completely soured the...
Read moreThe only thing I liked here was fillet steak which still was served strangelybecause it comes in three pieces. The waiter was nice and attentive in a non overly manner. As a starter we had onion flower and beef sushi. The onion wasn't fully done so it was like eating raw onion in some places and it was tasting bitter. Beef sushi was disappointing - they describe it as "beef tenderloin sushi rolls, melted parmesan, creamy avocado purée with wasabi, crispy potatoes". Now to my surprise when I cut it, it was a massive ball of rice with merely any beef as the slices of meat are so so thin. I was hoping it is a ball of beef where the outside is nicely seared and inside is raw with the ingredients listed in menu set aside. The whole dish smells of chemicals as they use a gas torch blower. Not nice. We wanted some veggies so asked for asparagus - we were served with 6 stems! Calculation is £1 per stem! No choice with your carbs really as they only have chips. My partner ordered t-bone which was rather chewy and he also expected it to be much thicker. We always leave the tip, and we did it this time too, how shocked my partner was when in the car he checked the receipt and it says they already add service charge of 10%. The lady taking our tip didn't say a word about it. My partner looked at the price on the bottom of the bill and added over 10% of the sum as it was making it a round number. We ended up spending £180. Not telling us about service charge made us feel as we were robbed. We think we will stick to Miller and Carter which never...
Read moreI’m really not one to write reviews but I felt this one was necessary, this will probably get lost amongst the positive reviews but at least it’s honest. We dined tonight as a party of 8 and really weren’t impressed, from sitting down and ordering our food, starters came out at different times with the last one arriving over half an hour later. The children’s menu isn’t suited for all, our 5 year old didn’t have much to choose from as the chicken popcorn had sold out (chef managed to make something similar but added a hot sauce to it which made it inedible). The menu stated 2 burgers as part of the kids menu yet only 1 arrived with the other ingredients just put on the side of the plate, the burger that did arrive wasn’t cooked well enough for a child as it was still pink (completely understand it’s a steak house). Sauce for the steaks were cold. Well done steaks for 2 pregnant women arrived medium. We wanted to order more drinks but received no assistance so we went to the bar where we were told to go take our seats and they’d collect our order from there. There was just no organisation amongst staff waiting on customers, not sure if this is how things normally are or if it’s because it was Father’s Day (certainly wasn’t that busy) but there are cheaper and much more enjoyable places...
