Having heard so much about The Codfather and having seen several well-received TikTok videos showcasing the inner workings of the shop, I had to satisfy my curiosity with a visit. At first glance, the shop is a spacious, standalone building with dedicated parking at the front and ample street parking on a quiet side road. Inside, it is roomy, clean, and well-organised, pleasant, and friendly staff ready to take the order. The Special Fish (haddock) was quite large but a bit of a let-down, due to the beef dripping not having had a chance to drain before serving, which resulted in a lot of excess grease soaking through the paper and leaving the batter damp in places. The same applied to the chips, which, regardless, were plump, tasty, and plentiful. However, the batter on the fish was flavourful. What stood out the most was the quality of the fish itself — fresh, white, plump, and delicious. This wasn’t just the case with the Special Fish, but also with the massive fish, chips, and mushy pea bread cake, with the fish cooked to perfection, thick and flaky. The Irish curry sauce, although a little on the sweet side, still had a pleasant kick to it and was packed with flavour. There was plenty of it, too. The place is clean and tidy and the price of items similar to other shops, If your in a rush then it's not the place for you, Staff seem slow at taking and delivering orders and sometimes they don't notice customers waiting to be served. Most food there you have to wait for it to be cooked and the food I wanted "kebab" was not even cooked and was asked to call back 15 mins later. When you add the 10 mins + waiting to order then having to call back 15 mins later then anouther 10 mins + to order again then anouther 10 mins to actually get the food in your hands then it's a lengthy frustrating drawn out process just to get some food.I gave up in the end and went to anouther takeaway close by where I got my kebab in 10 mins.

Me and my girlfriend love The Codfather, we always order via Just Eat, the food is great they deliver quickly and with the last delivery they really impressed us! I asked for a breadcake without butter, they must have run out as they sent really nice hand written note telling me, but they also included a refund as well! I was shocked as I didn't expect such amazing service! They have created a seriously loyal customer of me now :-)

Have been coming here every week for ages! Sadly, today will be the last, they seem to have gone from an award winning fish & chip shop to a tinpot one. Calling ahead with your order in advance is an absolute waste of time as they only start cooking it when you get there and when you do get there you’re stood waiting outside for ages due to the mass amount of delivery drivers stood inside waiting for just eat/ uber eats orders and when you do manage to get to the till you’re ignored whilst they prioritise just eat/ uber eats orders, when they do take your order they will stop you half way to again prioritise online placed orders. Good customer service here is non existent! Food takes forever to be cooked and when you get home find you have both poorly cooked food - soggy, not very warm and VERY GREASY!! and the portions have been very small recently! I’ll be going to the Wetherby Whaler from...

This is our go to fish and chip shop because we haven't found any round this area that serve tasty fish and chips at a reasonable price. They do meal deals and plenty too choose from the staff are friendly and are quick at serving. This is a busy chippy and it just shows how popular it is because when we go there is always a small queue but your never waiting long on less you order something that has to be made when you first go into the shop. The food is always tasty you get a decent sized portion and it's always cooked properly and there not greasy. The also have tango ice blasts and even ice cream if you want a treat for after your dinner there also on just eat so they can be delivered and if there delivered there always hot and are the same if you go into the shop to buy them. Definitely...
