We was not greeted, as we went to the manager’s selected table, we didn’t like it, because it was dirty. We called over 10 times and they didn’t mention a thing. But be rude on call. Chewing gum and stickers and vegetables around the table. We told them to clean it, they said do it yourself. Then we went to go get the buffet, and the food was cold. We asked to reheat the food, they refused, there was blood in the beef, the beef had a bad smell in it. The mashed potatoes were so hard, you couldn’t take a spoonful of it. The beef had too much fats in it, that you couldn’t cut it with a knife and fork, it was unbreakable. The vegetarian gravy was very salty. And when we went to go the second time, we was told that you couldn’t eat meat, the second time. I had to waste my time, instead of eating my food, we were complaining to the manager and the people who served me, but my family almost vomited. And they didn’t tell us you couldn’t eat meat the second time, and we suggested them to put signs around saying you couldn’t, since they said they weren't bothered to go tell everyone. But they didn’t care, the room overall was cold, and they didn’t agree on how the customer is always right, the roast was burnt. There was awful service, go anywhere else except here. It’s a shame, how I’ve come 35 minutes away, and this is how me and my family, is treated like. Besides that, I think there needs to be a new management, because the manager was very rude and didn’t want to listen, to our concerns and the other people’s concerns. There has to be improvements about kitchen staff, and the food. And they have to listen to the customer. They don’t care, they give old, stale food. That you can’t break using a knife and fork....
Read moreToby Carvery was busy when we visited. We had to wait 20 minutes to get a table. There were a fair amount of tables empty near the bar, but we were told that food was not allowed in there. After we were seated, we had to wait about two minutes before a waiter/waitress took our drink orders, and then we were free to go to the food bar. There was pork, gammon, turkey, beef, and lamb to choose from the cuts of meats. The chef serving put a good-sized yorkshire pudding 🍮 on your plate and then asked what you would like. The only problem here is that whatever you chose, the chef would cut the meat so it would crumble into scrapings and then serve that on your plate. There was no clean slice of whatever protein you chose. The sides available included stuffing, mac and cheese, red cabbage, green beans, peas, carrots, and cauliflower. Once you loaded up your sides, you accross the aisle to three tubs of Toby's Famous gravy. You then labelled to your taste. After we had finished, nobody went back for seconds, two adults and one child ordered puddings. The adults had sticky toffee pudding, one with custard, the other with ice cream. The child had ice cream with chocolate syrup. The ambience was okay, but nothing special. Two of the adults also upgraded their main dishes to King, which meant they got two yorkshire puddings and a bigger plate. This was £1.99 per adult. The total bill for 5 renewable drinks, one half pint with lime, two King plates, and three desserts was £89.90. This came to about £15 per head. It was okay for basic food, but the food was fairly tasteless. The service was nice while the atmosphere was okay, but the place looked like it could use...
Read moreWe visited as a family of 4, hoping to use the kids eat for £1 offer. Upon entry we were seated quickly, but upon being sat down we were immediately asked what we wanted to drink and as there were no drinks menus visible we asked for a couple of minutes. Twenty minutes later, nobody had been back to take our order so I went to the bar to get our drinks. Another ten minutes passed so we went to the carvery deck with our kids (11 & 6) to get carverys, where we were only offered standard or kingsize and therefore ordered standard for our children. When it came to pay, we said we had a kids eat for £1 voucher and the server said 'you didn't have kids meals'. Did anyone come to serve us to clarify this? No. The man at the carvery deck could clearly see our children with us and never once offered us the option, nor did a server attend us prior for us to discuss the ins & outs. I raised my issue with the server who did sort this out for us without fuss so we were only charged £1 for each of our kids meals, but had we actually been spoken to prior and the person running the carvery had used common sense, we wouldn't have been made to feel like idiots in the first place. Can't help but feeling like this will be a common way for them to get out of honoring the offer.
The place was very quiet too so I don't know why the service was so slow/poor. Furthermore, I'm unsure whether our table was just missing a drinks menu/pricelist but surely one should be available...
