if I could give zero, I would)
Hands down the least accommodating bar Iâve ever been to. Walked in expecting a normal night out and was instead met with an aggressive âwhat are you doing here?â straight to my face. Not exactly the welcome youâd expect from staff in hospitality.
From that moment, it was nothing but stinking looks all round. The atmosphere was dreadful â you could cut the tension with a knife. I sat at my table, looked at the menu, waiting for at least some kind of service⌠instead of a friendly hello or someone asking what weâd like to drink, they came over confrontational, like weâd done something wrong just for being there.
This was our first bar stop in Wakefield, and it set a terrible tone for the night. Zero warmth, zero respect, and absolutely no effort to make customers feel welcome. If you enjoy being glared at, spoken to with hostility, and made to feel like an inconvenience, then maybe this is the place for you. Otherwise â avoid at all costs.
Wakefield has plenty of spots where youâll actually be treated like a human being. The Queens is not one of them.
Edit (Response to owner) : Thatâs simply not true. None of us walked in with our own drinks, and itâs disappointing youâd make that up rather than accept genuine feedback. We came in quietly, looked at the menu, and were met with hostility and stares instead of a welcome.
And even if your version were true â isnât it your staffâs job to offer menus and make customers feel accommodated? The fact youâre blaming customers instead of taking responsibility says everything.
My review stands: the atmosphere was unwelcoming, the approach aggressive as proven , and the experience overall was one of the worst Iâve...
Read moreI was in Wakefield staying in a hotel close and me and a friend were looking to eat somewhere in the vicinity. We've passed the pub which is on Denny Dale Road previously on the way to the city centre but had never been in. We both opted for the quick bite; 4 oz rump steak (cooked to your liking) dressed salad and jacket potato for only £6.50 each. Excellent value for money and delicious. The menu is extensive and lots of choice. They even do a senior's 3 course menu for £13.00. The bar itself carers for all tastes and is well stocked. There's a pool room and TV's for sports days etc. They even let dogs in too, so if you've had an energetic walk with your pooch, put in here and relax together. The decor is modern and there's a large beer garden to the left as you enter the pub. Definitely going back when I'm in...
Read moreDreadful experience here - my children needed to use the toilet - appreciate that we didnât buy anything but I donât think itâs appropriate that a member of staff gave my 6 and 8 year olds the middle finger as we left. Will not be returning if staff have that poor attitude.
Edit - in response to reply - we left the toilet in the state we found it in - clearly the toilets are not checked regularly, because we left them in the condition we found them in - my two children just had a wee so god knows what horror was in the toilet we didnât use that we seem to be being blamed for. Despite this - an adult employed by this establishment giving my 6 and 8 year olds the middle finger is entirely inappropriate and immature. Absolutely vile behaviour by staff. No...
