Took my mother here for what we thought was going to be great food as she had heard good things. Unfortunately it wasn't that great. (Not for over £80 worth anyway). What we ate here for that price we could have had at a local pub for half the price. The fillet steak that was ordered came with fat on, and looked like two steaks on top of one another. I wasn't convinced that it was a fillet steak so I queried it with the waiter. He was kind enough to take it back and offered us a fresh fillet steak. The waitress then came to explain that the chef butterfly cuts their fillet steaks in order to cook them faster. (I have never experienced this before when ordering fillet steak anywhere else, but first time for everything i guess). When the second steak arrived it was undercooked and rare not medium rare that my sone had ordered, so it was edible but not as enjoyable. My son was then left eating alone Asby now myself and mother had finished our meals. We had pasta which wasn't awful but nothing special for an authentic Italian restaurant. (I didn't finish mine). Once we had finished and we were asked if everything was ok with our meals I explained that I wasn't exactly happy with the food. The starters were ok, the issue with the steak prevented us from enjoying our meal together, and the pasta was a little stodgy. I asked if there was anyway we could have some discount off the bill due to poor experience and we were refused. The waitress had told us that if the second steak was undercooked we could have informed her and she would have taken it back to chef to cook for longer. My son was already eating alone and quite frankly at this point we just wanted leave. Would have been nice if our soft drinks were taken off the bill just as a courtesy due to us having to return food and eat at separate times but unfortunately not. Maybe I had higher expectations of this place due to my mother hearing good things but based on my own experience I will not...
Read moreI only eaten there 3times ,but this last time food was terrible. Ordered seafood risotto with saffron, to my surprise risotto arrived without the distinctive yellow colour, but also tasted pretty blant. When I asked the waitress to rectify it, she was send to the table with a small bag of saffron for me to sprinkle on my dish! I looked really puzzled as I know you need to add it while you cooking to get the colour and the taste into the dish. So I send it back to be cooked again. To my surprise the dish arrived back, completely the same without the garnish or any different taste or colour. The rest of the party was also very unhappy with their blant taste of dishes and by this point we all complained. Only to then receive very defensive chef coming out and rather then rectify his cooking ,he was very unprofessional and defensive and argued his point that his dishes are good and we're the problem. Needless to say this experience didn't end up well. I felt like we had suddenly became part of reality TV the Gordon's kitchen nightmares and couldn't quite believe that chefs like this actually existed!? Chefs that loose their pride in what they do and can't take constructive criticism and perhaps keep learning or keep the consistency of their cooking. It's a shame that this place gone down the hill like this. Won't be coming back, as the chef said he'd not be cooking for us ever again. Wow ,how...
Read moreA year ago I had take away from here and had put the review as a 4 star. Which on reflection maybe was a bit low. 🤔 I had a lovely response saying thanks and we'll hopefully get 5 stars next Time. We'll done Team Amici (which it turns out means friends in Italian) was fantastic. Although your take away is lovely the decor (rustic Italian feel) and service there is fantastic and does add to the experience. Andrea was a fantastic host, nothing was to much trouble. The drip writing this messaged had booked a table in his head but not actually told Amici. "No problem" they said we'll find you a table, even though amazingly busy on a Tuesday evening at 5.30pm, so I'd book a table if you are going.
Well yesterday my wife and her Nan went for dinner there. Starters were meatballs for me and mozzarella for wifey. Nothing for Nan as she is 4ft 7 and 86 years old, She never would of eaten her mains. Mains were pizza for me and two chicken dishes. Generous portion of chicken breast, served with chargrilled potato's and vegetables which was cooked beautifully and the sauces. Oh and the cheese garlic bread pizza is divine. Caught nan pinching a third slice after saying oh I won't eat half of this meal let alone the . She smashed the lot.
Well done, you've got a wonderful restaurant there. Ill...
