Took my mother here for what we thought was going to be great food as she had heard good things. Unfortunately it wasn't that great. (Not for over £80 worth anyway). What we ate here for that price we could have had at a local pub for half the price. The fillet steak that was ordered came with fat on, and looked like two steaks on top of one another. I wasn't convinced that it was a fillet steak so I queried it with the waiter. He was kind enough to take it back and offered us a fresh fillet steak. The waitress then came to explain that the chef butterfly cuts their fillet steaks in order to cook them faster. (I have never experienced this before when ordering fillet steak anywhere else, but first time for everything i guess). When the second steak arrived it was undercooked and rare not medium rare that my sone had ordered, so it was edible but not as enjoyable. My son was then left eating alone Asby now myself and mother had finished our meals. We had pasta which wasn't awful but nothing special for an authentic Italian restaurant. (I didn't finish mine). Once we had finished and we were asked if everything was ok with our meals I explained that I wasn't exactly happy with the food. The starters were ok, the issue with the steak prevented us from enjoying our meal together, and the pasta was a little stodgy. I asked if there was anyway we could have some discount off the bill due to poor experience and we were refused. The waitress had told us that if the second steak was undercooked we could have informed her and she would have taken it back to chef to cook for longer. My son was already eating alone and quite frankly at this point we just wanted leave. Would have been nice if our soft drinks were taken off the bill just as a courtesy due to us having to return food and eat at separate times but unfortunately not. Maybe I had higher expectations of this place due to my mother hearing good things but based on my own experience I will not...

I only eaten there 3times ,but this last time food was terrible. Ordered seafood risotto with saffron, to my surprise risotto arrived without the distinctive yellow colour, but also tasted pretty blant. When I asked the waitress to rectify it, she was send to the table with a small bag of saffron for me to sprinkle on my dish! I looked really puzzled as I know you need to add it while you cooking to get the colour and the taste into the dish. So I send it back to be cooked again. To my surprise the dish arrived back, completely the same without the garnish or any different taste or colour. The rest of the party was also very unhappy with their blant taste of dishes and by this point we all complained. Only to then receive very defensive chef coming out and rather then rectify his cooking ,he was very unprofessional and defensive and argued his point that his dishes are good and we're the problem. Needless to say this experience didn't end up well. I felt like we had suddenly became part of reality TV the Gordon's kitchen nightmares and couldn't quite believe that chefs like this actually existed!? Chefs that loose their pride in what they do and can't take constructive criticism and perhaps keep learning or keep the consistency of their cooking. It's a shame that this place gone down the hill like this. Won't be coming back, as the chef said he'd not be cooking for us ever again. Wow ,how...

A year ago I had take away from here and had put the review as a 4 star. Which on reflection maybe was a bit low. 🤔 I had a lovely response saying thanks and we'll hopefully get 5 stars next Time. We'll done Team Amici (which it turns out means friends in Italian) was fantastic. Although your take away is lovely the decor (rustic Italian feel) and service there is fantastic and does add to the experience. Andrea was a fantastic host, nothing was to much trouble. The drip writing this messaged had booked a table in his head but not actually told Amici. "No problem" they said we'll find you a table, even though amazingly busy on a Tuesday evening at 5.30pm, so I'd book a table if you are going.

Well yesterday my wife and her Nan went for dinner there. Starters were meatballs for me and mozzarella for wifey. Nothing for Nan as she is 4ft 7 and 86 years old, She never would of eaten her mains. Mains were pizza for me and two chicken dishes. Generous portion of chicken breast, served with chargrilled potato's and vegetables which was cooked beautifully and the sauces. Oh and the cheese garlic bread pizza is divine. Caught nan pinching a third slice after saying oh I won't eat half of this meal let alone the . She smashed the lot.

Well done, you've got a wonderful restaurant there. Ill...

I ummmed and ahhed about where to go for my birthday meal. Amici's was my first choice but looking at pictures on fb and Google I didn't think it looked that great, despite ok reviews and hearing good things through word of mouth. So I looked around at loads of places but my criteria was a little tricky, as I didn't fancy going far and I didn't want Sunday roast or limited menu because it is a Sunday. Anyway after a few days of deliberation I decided to go with my initial choice and chance Amici's. And we were so glad that I did from the moment we stepped inside. The restaurant felt and looked lovely from the moment we entered. The decor was great, and the staff were welcoming. Even the toilets were beautiful. The food was delicious, well presented and most importantly very tasty. The staff were great with our 7year old daughter, chatting with her and really listening when she wanted to tell them things. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends and hope to return soon.

This is a gem of a restaurant tucked away just off the high street in blackwood. Excellent service and extremely clean and tidy. Staff know how to mix a cocktail and are knowledgeable on the menu items. The staff are very nice and welcoming. Everything was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the sea bass. The food was well presented and as described on the menu. I'd give 10 stars if I could for the quality of the food. Desserts appeared to be homemade, but the panacotta could of been sweeter, but thats personal preference. It was still delicious and presented beautifully. Parking isn't outside of the restaurant but just a short walk away. Toilets are up a narrow staircase and so not suitable for disabled customers but they are extremely clean and welcoming. We will definately return. We went early doors so our table was booked 5pm there was a few of us in at that time but the atmosphere was relaxing and calm, no loud music, which was perfect.

Year on after my last review and sadley I have to say is one of my worse meals I've ever been served. Firstly order the pollo divadolo sorry for my spelling. Sorry but the chicken wasn't even a breast, to save on costs it had been cut down which made it dry and the source was awful. The staff were really friendly I have to say, I then ordered the carbonara and they used cheap smoked bacon so all the food tasted of over powering smokey taste again I left most of it. My sons pizza was good and the whitebait was expensive for a few small fish. My bill came to £60 for two kids and myself but I can safely say I won't be returning. I can't understand how an italian chef would use cheap ingredients
