To start, we were told there would be a 45 min wait for food and we'd have to sit outside. Thankfully, it was a nice evening, so we sat at a table outdoors to wait for our food. I am assuming the 45 min wait was due to a lack of kitchen help because I had to ask twice for parts of both of our dishes once they arrived. There was no dressing on my salad, and there were no vegetables with the surf and turf, although both were clearly stated on the menu. The wait staff were quick to address the issue, but the steak was dry and overcooked and sauces for the steak and chips would cost £1.50 extra for each sauce! The salad, once I had dressing, was okay, but it was a lot of raw red onions with lettuce, tomato and cucumber. I'm glad I ordered a protein to go with it, otherwise, it would have been a boring salad. I cannot recommend Antelope Inn and wouldn't eat there again.

Car park side of pub is a pay by phone or free if you enter your car reg in a keyboard in the pub, staff tell you to seat anywhere you like so got a window view overlooking the Menai straight, menu is a basic pub menu, order food at bar and drinks at the same time, cos it wasn't that busy food came quickly and was really nice and tasty and hot ,the staff member that served me at the bar came to the table with the food aswell, she was a lovely polite and friendly young lady, had no problems with our food as no one came back to see if everything was okay, the pub itself could do with a bit of tlc as seats where stained tables where sticky and floor needs a good hoover ,but the food was good staff nice so maybe an off day on the cleaning side ,would have got 4 stars but cleaning let them down

This pub beside the Menai bridge was quaint and easy to miss driving past, but it was well worth finding whilst trying to hide from the rain. The food was absolutely beautiful, the fish and chips was cooked to perfection and the sausage and mash had an incredible gravy that almost tasted like beef dripping sauce. The food cost only £13.50 for both plates and was worth spending more on than charged for. The staff were very friendly and helpful and showed us where dogs were allowed. We sat beside the fireplace and had many lovely interactions with other guest appreciating the dog. There is also an incredible view from the terrace of the Menai bridge. I have absolutely no complaints about this place and would absolutely return and recommend it to others.

If you're in Menai Bridge, The Antelope Pub is a must-visit. Located by the Menai Strait, the pub offers stunning views of the Menai Suspension Bridge, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a drink or meal while soaking in the scenery. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it’s a cozy and welcoming place that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.

Great Atmosphere and Location

The Antelope’s location is hard to beat. With the Menai Strait right at your doorstep and the iconic bridge in view, the outdoor seating area is ideal for enjoying a sunny day. Inside, the pub has a rustic charm with wooden beams, comfortable seating, and warm lighting. It’s the kind of place that feels relaxed but still stylish. The staff are friendly and approachable, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere.

Delicious Food, Especially the Sizzling Dishes

The food at The Antelope is one of the highlights. They serve up some seriously tasty dishes, with a special mention going to their sizzling platters. The sizzling fajitas are a standout – served hot on a cast iron plate, with tender meat or prawns, sautéed peppers, and onions. The sound and smell as it arrives at your table only add to the experience. It’s not only delicious but fun to eat too.

If sizzling dishes aren’t your thing, there’s plenty of other great options to try. Their fish and chips are a classic – crispy and golden on the outside, tender and flaky inside. The burgers are also fantastic, with juicy patties and fresh toppings. For something a little more comforting, try the pie of the day, which is always hearty and packed with flavor.

The menu has a great variety of dishes, so whether you’re after something light or indulgent, there’s always something to suit your mood. They also offer good vegetarian and gluten-free choices, so everyone can find something they like.

Family-Friendly and Relaxed

The Antelope is very family-friendly, with plenty of space for children to enjoy a meal. The staff are great with kids, and there’s an outdoor garden area where they can play. It’s a comfortable spot for families, but it also works just as well for groups of friends or a casual date night. The relaxed atmosphere makes it the perfect place for any occasion.

Drinks and Entertainment

The drink selection here is impressive, with local ales, ciders, and wines to choose from. Whether you’re after a cold beer or a glass of wine, the bar staff are happy to recommend a drink to complement your meal. The Antelope also hosts live music and events, adding to the lively, fun atmosphere, making it a great place to spend an evening.

Final Thoughts

The Antelope Pub is a hidden gem in Menai Bridge, offering great food, a beautiful location, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping by for a drink, enjoying a sizzling platter, or relaxing outdoors, it’s a spot you’ll want to return to. Highly recommended for anyone...

From when myself and my girlfriend walked in, the customer service was poor. The waiter was very blunt, with the menus and cutlery being dumped on the table. As the waiter was walking away they shouted 'You'll have to go to the bar to order your stuff'. There was no offer of drinks when we sat down which is unlike any place I've ever been to eat. My girlfriend and I got up to go to the bar to order our food and by the time we had returned to our table, it had been cleared up of the menus and cutlery and my girlfriends bag being removed from the table by the same waiter who had sat us down 10 minutes prior.

We had to pay for the food beforehand which is really unusual because what if we had problems etc with food normally i'd expect to pay for food after the fact which was the case at a previous visit here.

It took around 25 minutes for our starters to arrive. and a further 25 minutes for the mains to arrive. My girlfriend has the mac and cheese and I had the mega mix grill. The mac and cheese seemed as if it had been put in microwave as the dish it was served in was piping hot however the food itself was cold and watery. The garlic bread it was served with was also stone cold and soggy.

The mega mix grill was advertised with onion rings however it did not turn up with the dish. A fried mushroom was on the plate despite not being listed on the menu or told otherwise. I had asked for the steak medium/well done however it was more like extremely well done and was burnt to a crisp. The steak was dry, tastless and was like chewing through an old boot. The egg hadn't been cooked properly as half of it was still gooey/see through and raw.

Again the customer service was poor, not once had anyone checked on us that our food was okay or would we like any more drinks etc.

This was a really dissapointing visit as we had previously been here in June and everything was perfect then such a shame that things have gone downhill so quickly. Not sure we will...

I used to a supervisor here many years ago, and have always loved the place. OK, the food hasn't always been great, but as a budget pub, it was always 'ok'. It has since been taken over, and refurbished, and I have wanted to go here again for a while. Unfortunately, its been quite difficult to get a booking for a while, as during the pandemic, I believe they had staff issues which meant their kitchen wasn't open on certain days. Anyway, on Sunday, my brother and I tried out hand as a walk in, and there were tables available, and the kitchen was open, get in!!!! It was certainly worth the wait, the food was of a very good standard, despite being a lot cheaper than ordering the same in many other local places. The service was swift and efficient, with pleasant staff. The pub/restaurant was clean, and looked very nice, and had retained my favourite feature, of the wooden beams in the conservatory area and not just painted over them. I can be quite anti social, so being able to order and pay from the very easy to use app, was great. Despite me ordering on the app, and my brother ordering at the bar, both meals were served together (small thing perhaps, but you'd be amazed how many times we've ordered separately at restaurants, and waited 10 mins between mine, and the other guests food being served). On a whole, a very pleasant experience, the cost was very reasonable, and the view from certain areas of the restaurant, will give you some truly photographic scenes of the Menai Suspension Bridge. I will be...
