I had a craving for quality Italian food. I arrived unanticipated having never even considered that I would need a reservation, but nonetheless was awarded a table near the entrance. Classic Italian tunes wafted away in the background as the waiter guided me through his suggestions for larger portions.
Within one minute, I was brought the non-alcoholic Passion Fruttini (£4.65) that I had ordered: a well presented sweet drink with an artfully placed sprig of rosemary.
Ten minutes (!) after that, I was served my food. The Cheese And Onion Garlic Bread (£7.45) was served pizza style. Each bite was deliciously soft, cheesy and fulfilling, complemented well by the caramelised onions on top. Before I could get stuck into the Cannelloni Sora Peppa (£16.95), I was offered some grated parmesan, which I of course accepted.
The Cannelloni was served alongside a salad drizzled with balsamic glaze. I ate this quickly to ensure I was closer to achieving my 5-a-day before continuing to the main article. The Cannelloni itself was served in a creamy thick tomato sauce, and had a cohesive meaty slightly aromatic filling. Simply excellent. After I was done with the salad and Cannelloni, I followed the waiters earlier suggestion and used a slice of garlic bread to mop up the remaining sauce. By the time I was done, that bowl was CLEAN.
As I basked in a haze of post-prandial satisfaction, I decided to give this restaurant more of my money and opted for a desert.
The apple pie (£6.95) was delivered 10 minutes later. A warm slice of pie gently spiced with cinnamon accompanied by a slice of vanilla ice cream. Whilst I find vanilla ice cream much of a muchness, the apple pie was wholesome and fulfilling No regrets.
Throughout the course of my meal I couldn't help but observe as the restaurant filled with people. This is clearly an establishment doing well, and I can see why.
Total bill: £36.00 Time from ordering to leaving: 58 minutes
Verdict: I greatly enjoyed everything I ordered and despite the prices still felt like I got a fair deal for my money. Most importantly, I left this restaurant...
Read moreBooked in advance for a birthday meal. When we arrived we were shown to our table with a warm greeting and given menus. However after this it took 15 minutes, and a member of our party having to beckon someone over to take our drinks order despite members of staff appearing to look for something to do and us putting our menus to the side to indicate.
Ordered food and drinks, however had to ask 4 members of staff for water for the table before it finally arrived.
We had the mussel starter which was amazing, the sauce was beautiful. Mains were mediocre, carbonara wasn't saucy enough and spaghetti and meatballs was just okay but not anything to shout about. However portion sizes were good and we were offered a takeaway box for what we didn't eat which was very nice! The desserts were nice and refreshing (mango and lemon sorbet)
The atmosphere was really relaxed and the owners was out interacting with everyone. Although a poor start, we were feeling content and tipped at the bill. However, as we were about to walk out the door only a minute later we were called back by a member of staff who apologetically stated there was an issue with the bill and that we hadn't paid enough. This was very embarrassing with many staff members looking on and other customers within ear shot. The boy behind bar showed us the tab for the table, and there was £27 worth of drinks that we had not ordered. Our bill in fact, as correct, and paid in full before we were called back into the resteraunt. Although the staff were apologetic we made a speedy exit feeling embarrassed despite not doing anything wrong.
With living within walking distance we have seen this building go from owner to owner and wear many different hats. We were excited to see a new cuisine being hosted here and were really looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, despite the owners enthusiasm and effort to make everyone feel at ease and welcome, after the final embarrassment over the bill situation I feel that we will not...
Read moreBella Roma is a fantastic little spot in Haverfordwest, a much needed experience for a town desperate for new flavours! A lively host, diverse menu and a guaranteed hot spot!
The food is immensely delicious. Even just the garlic bread starter wowed us on our table. It was so crunchy and the additional garlic oil brought out a rich and delicious flavour. We all ordered different main meals and the general vibe was "yum!". I opted for a caesar salad and it was wonderful. A massive bowl and they weren't skimpy with the chicken either!
Dessert was equally lovely, though the chocolate brownie is quite dense so if you don't like thick chocolate and prefer a light bite, this one might be too much for you (especially after a filling meal!)
The service definitely stands out. Our servers were friendly and attentive, with Fabio delivering our food himself with plenty of jokes and smiles. The energy was great and definitely isn't something you can find in Haverfordwest very often! Decor was fun and themed, the place was packed which is always a good sign and we left unanimously agreeing that we had had a blast. Will definitely...
