Ordered the £6 breakfast: 1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 fried egg, a ramikin of baked beans and a peice of toast. (See pic) Plus a coffee.
Payment is in advance so not much you can do if you're not satisfied with your meal or the service. On first observation, the sausage looked like it had been sitting around for a while and the bacon over cooked. The egg, on the other hand was spot on. Still don't know what this trend is with serving beans in a ramekin - try getting your fork in to eat them! They should be on the plate with the rest of the food. Thankfully, the butter portion was ready to spread and not so hard it needed the heat from hell to soften it! Mercifully, it wasn't all bad taste wise. Some better training of the weekend waitress would be helpful (a smile now and again perhaps?), as would condiments on each table. Not an unpleasant experience, but certainly room for improvement to make it a more welcoming...
Read moreUsually a good place to stop off for a lunch but NOT this last Saturday. My friend and I have been a few times , however, this time it was the worst we have experienced. I ordered the poutine which I have eaten before at Cafe Wylfa but it was very poor, cold cheese and watery gravy, not the rich gravy advertised which I ate the last time we were there with melted cheese. My friend ordered a cheese jacket potato, which when arrived, she refused it immediately as it hardly covered half the plate. A small potato with a couple of cold cheese slices plus a spoonful chopped cucumber and tomatoes. Not even a proper salad. Costing £7.25. She swopped it for two slices of Cooked ham, 2 eggs, chips and a spoonful of chopped cucumber and tomatoes. Much better value for money than the small jacket and cheese they first offered. Which would you prefer for same price.? However, it has put us off going back and will not dine...
Read moreWow, what a Cafe.
I ordered Ham, eggs and fries and wasn't disappointed at all. The ham was off a joint and not out of a plastic box, and two nicely cooked eggs. My wife ordered Chicken, pesto and pasta and again was not disappointed. A good plate full and well worth the £8:50.
The food is first class and all fresh, not your typical tourist cafe, far from it. I have eaten at plusher places and not had the quality of food that I have had here. Not saying the place isn't nice. In fact, the name cafe, doesn't give it enough credit. (May be worth changing the name, just an idea).
They also do a good range of cakes and buns, or and freshly made sandwiches and quiche.
Anyway, If you are around the area it is definitely worth calling in.
PS. They also sell wine and beer ☺️
