UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022
Awful. There's been a change of manager and the new manager has driven every single member of the experienced staff to leave. Most of them have gone to the new indy shops that have opened up and sell better coffee and better cakes. None of the new staff seems to know how to make decent coffee and head office (CaffĂš Nero) clearly don't care or they'd have intervened by now.
From being the best coffee in town by miles, I'd sooner go without than drink their ditchwater.
Do yourselves a favour and rather than wasting your money here, go to one of the indies instead: Y Sied Goffi (across the road by the cinema), Ridiculously Rich (next-door but one to C#1), Tea Traders (a couple of hundred yards along the pedestrianised bit of town, they have the best home-made cakes in town), Bailey's (owned by Bailey, a 7-month old dachshund and very welcoming of other dogs), Espresso Yourself on Queen St, or, if you don't mind the trek, Calon LĂąn next to the Co-op in Johnstown. Do check their opening times, though.
Normally the best coffee chain in town by several miles but this latest seasonal coffee (June 2021 - supposedly nutty caramel flavours) is awful. It has no discernible flavour or character whatsoever and has actually left quite an unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth.
Apart from that, quality has noticeably diminished since Brains sold out to Nero but CaffĂȘ Nero staff (shopfloor and corporate) would still do well to learn from...
   Read moreCalled here for lunch today. Quite busy ordered drinks and food. Waited a while for food but was shocked when only one meal served. Male member of staff said only one ordered which was incorrect and told us he would get the other in a minute for us and we didnt need to que again!!! He then brought a print out of our contact less receipt and said we hadnt been charged. While my poor husband was trying hard to enjoy his lunch the same member of staff asked for payment for second meal. I then stood up to go and use the card machine but my husband had cash so paid at the table. The member of staff put our change on table with out as much as a thank you or here is your change. My husband had finished his lunch before mine arrived. So much for having lunch out together. What finally finished my lunch off for me was to see the same member of staff taking food out to another customer with his blue gloves on and on his way back collecting dirty cups and plates in from a table then without changing gloves or wadhing them went on to touching and cooking more food. Come on please is this what we are to expect from a High...
   Read moreThis is one of the friendliest cafes in Caerfyrddin âșïž I go to this cafe really often and the baristas are all so lovely. No matter how busy they are they are always make time to chat to you and treat you kindly. I always leave having a better day than I was before I arrived. I told the manager today how she made my day last week by going above and beyond to make my cake really delicious when I was having a bad day. So much so that I was inspired to write a poem about it. She wanted me to post it here;
âcaffiâ
Warmed with squirty cream on the side? Asks my usual barista Felt low today, didnât hide Now grin with sound of a milk whisker
Same faces I smiled to Getting coffee every week Their kindness never waivered When my inner world was bleak
She hands my coffee cup Asks about my career Wants to meet up To hear my literary idea
Glad I went outside today Felt lonely for some time Until lovely people came my way Inspiring new...
