The main positive was the staff, I can't really complain about them. If we felt we was sitting too long without something, we would call, and they would come with smiles and hold their professionalism well.
The food: Carbonara - this dish was never eaten in the end. You can see in the photo what was ultimately left. It didn't taste fresh or flavoursome. It reminded me of a microwave meal over anything. Considering this was £14.50 I believe, it was quite a shock. You could probably get a microwave meal, save yourself £10 and it would taste the same.
BBQ Chicken Burger + Buffalo Chicken Loaded Fries Upgrade - When it arrives, it comes with 1/3 of the plate empty, which in itself seems comical they can't just give you more fries or add some salad. It just looks a little empty and silly. The fries themselves were 80% cheese sauce flavour, and the description claims "hot sauce" added, which wasn't the case. They were bad overall, but for the price compared to others, they fall well below par. The fries actually came warm, closer to a colder side. The Burger, was awful but edible I suppose. You had to gamble when you bit it whether you would have all crusty batter from the south fried part..or gritty tasting chicken as if it wasn't cooked correctly. I feel like the chicken was either over battered, or not cooked correctly. But certainly didn't taste brilliant. The biggest issue with Frankie and Bennies, is when you compare it to similar priced American style restaurants it just doesn't hold up.
For added laughs, you don't get a slice if padsionfruit in pornstat martini, you get the whole half which was comical.
The main reason why this isn't a 1 star, is that it was a late Friday night. I imagine it was busy, but the servers were polite and attentive.
I wouldn't visit again in any hurry, shame! But, we did find better food after it in a drive-through, which unfortunately...
Read moreWent here after the cinema. We were seated at a table where we were given menus. After a few minutes we had chosen what we were having. We sat there for a further 10 minutes with nobody approaching us to take an order. We eventually managed to call someone to take our order. He informed us that he wasn't meant to as we weren't one of his tables. He was lovely and took the order anyway. We sat and waited for over 20 mins for our meal, which can be expected when you are having food cooked fresh. The food turned up and it was awful. The burgers were extremely dry as if they had been cooked earlier and then warmed up again. My mother's burger didn't even have the cheese and it was a cheese burger that was ordered. I definitely would not order a burger again. We then waited and waited and waited to see someone to ask for the bill. We were waiting over 20 minutes just to catch someone's attention to get the bill. I wouldn't have minded but the restaurant wasn't even busy. I did tell the waitress that we had waited a long time and she did give us a discount on our meal which I wasn't expecting. If it wasn't for the fact that I had the meercat 2 for 1 deal I would have sent the food back. I never complain and definitely never write a bad review as I work in retail and know how hard things can get. But I have never had such bad service anywhere. Even McDonald's gives better service. I would not recommend this...
Read moreWe booked a table for a special family meal (ahead of my birthday) and decided to splash out on ALL the cocktails and mocktails we could handle!
Food was absolutely spot on - as a vegan it’s so nice to be able to go out with my family and have multiple choices for each course and be torn between them! The Christmas menu was also available and we could pick and choose between that and the main menu. The fried ravioli starter and vegan tortellini bake I had were both gorgeous, and the vegan mozzarella they use is the nicest I’ve had - my partner asked for his garlic bread starter with the vegan cheese so I could try some and even as an omni, he really enjoyed it.. The family also enjoyed their starters and mains (wings, mozzarella sticks, burgers and ribs)
Cocktails and mocktails were also lovely - the fizzy cola bottle cocktail is to die for - and the kids enjoyed their fruity drinks.
However what really made the evening was the service. Even though the restaurant was busy, our server Reece couldn’t do enough for us, and was so cheerful and friendly, dashing off several times to check the availability of things to ensure we could have what we wanted. Would also like to mention Scott the bartender and cocktail-shaker extraordinaire - also very professional and friendly and happy to answer questions.
We had an absolutely superb meal snd will definitely...
