Gatto Lounge — Restaurant in Wales

I never! And I mean never! Leave reviews but I’m Not really happy with the service at all. Not a great atmosphere to start with when we were seated, dogs barking at one and other, I understand dogs out on the terrace but when there’s one per table and the seating area is full; it’s borderline ridiculous at that point. Ordered food and homemade soft drinks. The drinks were very nice actually (elderflower cooler and lemon sherbet lemonade) hence the second star. However, the food was shocking. We ordered the three tapas (salt and pepper squid, Korean chilli chicken wings and meatballs). Tasted cheap, the wings were awful and the meatballs were just frozen meatballs, nothing special at all. However the burgers. The burgers were dreadful. Overcooked “Korean” buttermilk burgers. The fries came to the table looking like sweet potato fry’s and the portions were minute. Not one check back for the table, no one came to ask if we were okay with the food. Ordered halloumi with the burger which didn’t arrive with the food, asked our server and he said “ let me just double check the ticket to see if you actually ordered it” when I’m looking at my receipt and the “2 halloumi slices” were right in front of me. Proceeds to just hand them to us with no apology or anything. The gatto lounge looks boujee, looks hipster, looks really nice but I really left with a sour taste in my mouth. No toilet checks followed since 10am (we attended at 15:40). For £50, me and the missus left severely disappointed. Maybe go for a drink (if you can afford the overpriced drinks menu) but steer clear of the food, maybe when it’s quieter it’s much better but at least during busy peak times...

Tonight I took a walk around Ponty with my partner and saw the Gatto Lounge was busy with people sitting outside as the weather was so nice. We decided to give it a try. We waited and ended up getting the very last seats outside. I checked the menu and as a vegetarian, there was a huge choice for me.

I chose to order the cheese beyond burger. I got a little cold and I asked a staff member to move inside and they obliged. We were so excited by the time our food came out as we were watching all the different tapas come out of the kitchen and they all looked so well presented and delicious.

The meals came out beautifully on the plates. The waiter checked if we needed anything. All the staff we came into contact with today were so courteous, so polite and very helpful. Nothing is too much for them.

We devoured our meals quickly and promptly ordered dessert. We both went for the churros. They came out with a selection of dips, a chocolate and a salted caramel. I was in absolute heaven!

The vegetarian choices in this place is the biggest winner for me as well as the excellent, highly trained and courteous staff who a massive credit to the company. Well done all, we will certainly be returning soon to sample more of your...

Came here before with my partner and had no problems, had a good time. Tonight however was a completely different story, different staff were working tonight, ordered drinks one of the staff, a woman in a leopard print dress, saw me take a sip of my partners drink and flew over asking for ID I said I didn’t have any (bare in mind me and my partner are the same age, only difference being he has facial hair, and they had no issue serving him with no ID) and I’ve been served alcohol here previously, I’m 22. after she flew over to our table she was incredibly rude “I JUST SAW YOU HAVE A SIP, IF I SEE YOU DO IT AGAIN YOURE ALL GOING TO HAVE TO LEAVE” and threatened to kick out my whole family, her and another member of staff (they’d very obviously had a rant about us to each other) proceeded to stare at our table whenever they walked past the entire time we were there ,she was incredibly rude from the moment she sat us at a table and muttered something under her breath after seating us (this was before we’d even sat down properly or ordered anything), the only redeeming qualities were one server who brought us our food she was lovely and the food was good, however won’t be recommending or returning to this...
