I visit this pub often from April to September and maybe once or twice during the winter.
I’ve seen the pub change a lot over the years and a lot of money be invested in it which has massively improved both the inside and outside
Outside there is a large seating area with overhead heaters and canopies. There is also a very popular play area. Dogs are welcome in the outside area here and there’s always a bowl of water available for them.
There are 2 car parks but only one disabled space which is parked in by anyone. Other parking available in the road at the side of the pub.
Good toilet facilities for all including Disabled.
Martin has run this pub for many years and the staff are friendly.
The menu has a good choice with a Carvery a couple of times a week definitely during the peak season. There’s also a children menu. Sometimes I find the menu a bit basic eg if you have curry you won’t get a poppadom or naan bread or even mango chutney and the food is a little over priced. However it’s only really busy in the summer months and they say there is more competition in the area now??
Very popular and a lovely atmosphere long...
Read moreWas greeted by a very rude front of house(female with short blonde hair) I ordered a cheese burger with a side of mozzarella sticks, the cheese burger cost £17 and was something I’d have expected from a butty van on the side of the road for a fiver. It was cheap meat(if that’s what you could call it) greasy, the cheese was plastic cheese slices and the onion rings that came with it were soggy, mushy and clearly just the cheap frozen ones. the mozzarella sticks were £8 and I got 4 small sticks of hard mozzarella and a small salad which was just cucumber and lettuce. if the food was cheaper I wouldn’t have minded but with the decent reviews and nice location we all expected a lot better, was a good atmosphere but now has me thinking it’s only because there’s not much else around so people don’t have much choice. way to overpriced for what they serve and all the staff looked like they didn’t want to be there and had zero customer service whatsoever, real shame as I had high hopes for it before we got there. I would have tried to speak to someone but the plates just got dumped on the table and no one bothered to ask how...
Read moreDecent enough pub a short walk up (as in uphill) from the beach.
There's a car park, but access is tight so only suitable for cars.
Most of the seating is under a wooden canopy. There are patio heaters for the evenings. Some seating by the play area. Dog friendly with water bowls outside.
Food is standard pub / Brakes Brothers food. Reasonably well prepared but nothing special. Don't expect much by way of vegetables unless you have the carvery.
It's very expensive though, £5.50 a pint of lager and £4 a pint of soft drink. London prices in North Wales. The garlic bread someone else mentions is £5.50 for a mass produced parbaked baguette, garlic butter and some cheese that would cost about 50p to make and like all the food it's adequate but nothing special.
They have an unusual ordering system; food orders at a booth in the left of the pub, drinks at the bar. Whilst it keeps the drinks queue moving it is annoying to have to queue twice and means you have staff standing around idle whilst customers...
