From the welcoming smile to the warm and extremely hospitable host guiding us to our seats... From the head chef taking his time to speak to us, set this place apart. We decided to go for a "Sunday Roast", to give the griffin a fair crack, I ordered the beef with sausages wrapped in bacon, extra roast potatoes, extra Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese for sides... Soft drink, we had "pepsi" But we probably waited 20 to 30 mins not long at all...and all the food was brought out timely and hot. The beef - medium, absolutely outstanding, taste and cook...boom 💥 really nice. Roast potatoes, not from a packet... These badboys were homemade, the kind of roast tatties ya look forward to going to your grandparents on a special occasion. Veg, well...my wife was made up she had parsnips, I gave her my share (vile things lol). The cauliflower cheese...oh the cauliflower cheese. The cheese was a mature cheese with I would say a hint of garlic, and it went superbly well together. Yorkshire's, I would say they were homemade from scratch...nice touch chef. The dining area was clean, all settings were immaculately presented. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and visit to the Griffin. When I review something 5 stars I justify it, and you made both me and my wife welcome...thank you.

We were looking for a decent family pub but with an old interior that done good food & that's exactly what we got. The interior is fab please never modernise it the outside is perfect for families too with a play area. We came and it was very quiet we ordered 5 meals 2 adult and 3 children's followed by dessert. The food was piping hot and so tasty you also get lots for your money! The kids dessert portion size was the same as the adults & they cater for vegan children ( we had 1 dairy allergy). The kids even said how much they enjoyed it - we didn't realise until we were paying that children ate for £1 with every paying adults meal ( deffinately advertise this more even on kids menus - which we were not offered when we sat down we just asked what kids meals they sold) We have already planned to come back from Liverpool with family! The staff were so polite. The only thing I can say to keep ontop of is the condiments being topped up but that's me with my hospitality head on 😅 thank you for a joyable experience can't wait to come back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We called in as passing & looking for somewhere to eat lunch. The pub looked busy which was a good sign. The older lady behind the bar was rude to us twice but the younger ladies were polite. The older lady shortchanged a man as I was waiting to be served by quite a large amount so I’m not sure if she was having a bad day. He realised luckily. The food was REALLY small portions. We are now thinking we maybe paid for adult portions but got child portions as the rude lady could have ordered it incorrectly at the till. I guess we didn’t feel over full afterwards but the gammon egg chips & peas was toddler sized. I took a picture as I couldn’t believe it. (The gammon is under the egg & was tasty.) The pub atmosphere was good & the pub itself was nice. Clean toilets & the outside area looked nice for the summer. A lot of my relatives use this pub apparently so I don’t feel unhappy about the overall experience maybe it was just a bad afternoon but the portion size was very strange.

We have been to similar pubs operated by the same brewery and they're usually really pleasant and the food is fairly good. Sadly this one isn't. The staff are pleasant, polite and helpful, but the Sunday dinners was less than middle of the road and into plain old blah. Piss watery gravy poured alllll over it, I can't stand this, miserably over boiled veg in really poor portion sizes (read that as crappy pan scrapings), not very nice and burnt stuffing ( tasted like air freshener) and tasteless meats, we chose pork and beef, (read shoe leather and bird cage lining). We ate around 430pm so didn't expect to get tale ends of the day, The kids food wasn't much better and to be honest, burgers without buns? Really? The bread rolls were like granite! we only ordered desert because we were all still hungry. Think We will stick to our usual favourites but wanted to give this newly returned pub a go. Hope you catch them on a better day, I wouldn't recommend it though. 2 stars only because...
