Went to Pen Y Bont Farm Pub Mold last night with the girls for a birthday get together hoping for a lovely meal and great atmosphere and unfortunately was faced with extortionate prices for instance this starter if nachos which were £9.95 I asked about the portion size given the extreme pricing and was told they were a good size and good as a sharer so when it arrived at our table we was really unhappy to find it was child size to say the very best and the s### last bits ypu get at the bottom of a packet with cheap tasteless cheese... pic below 👇👇. Then for mains a lady on my table ordered a £20 8oz stake very well done 😳 and she received a medium rare at very best pink as anything inside and burnt on the outside attached to about 5oz of unchewable fat, when she complained her meal wasn't taken back and redone she was made to put the stake onto a separate plate for another to be "cooked" for her while the rest of her meal went cold when it finally arrived back at the table it wasn't any better then the first and was again pink in the middle and cremated on the outside. It was a awful atmosphere and very morbid, except 1 young member of serving staff who I must say was the best employee in the entire building at that time. Very unhappy with the entire experience will not be returning and will not be recommending to anyone I know.

Ate out with family after visiting fairly regularly and always loved the food. Greeted by lovely staff at the bar who engaged in a great chat whilst we waited for our table to be ready. We ordered some sides, starters and a burger all to come out at the same time. When the food arrived the chips and onion rings were cold and one plate of chicken strips came covered in sauce when asked for without. We asked for them to be done without and waiting on staff were happy to do this, when the plate came back out they were the same chicken strips as before with the sauce scraped off so again we asked for a fresh plate and staff were happy to do this however this time there were burnt and chewy, we sent brought this to the staffs attention and they brought another plate out which were exactly the same and the waitress recognised this and apologised. All staff were all apologetic and didn’t charge us for them due to having multiple issues with them. Additionally, the burger started off really nice, however towards the end of eating the chicken in the burger was undercooked and pink. Such a shame as we used to love the food at this pub but probably won’t be returning after this.

We sat outside for dinner and the seating area we found ourselves in felt fairly dirty and a bit drab. The decor indoors looked far cleaner and brighter. This pub is located right next to a huge, noisy roundabout so the ambiance outside isn’t ideal if you’re looking for a lovely spot to eat in the summer. Service wise, very friendly and efficient so no qualms there. Food wise, just dreadful. We paid £15 for a vegan burger that was presented on a soggy piece of lettuce, with a tiny portion of slaw and sweet potato fries. And that was all that was on my plate! My other half had a curry and he said it tasted like a cheap microwaveable meal for one. The burger was only one of a handful of meals that we could see were gluten free on the menu, so that was extremely disappointing as we know other pubs in the area have an amazing selection catering to different dietary needs. The quality of the food for the money charged was just shameful (the bill came to over £50 and we didn’t even order any alcohol) and for that price, we could’ve bought a whole pile of delicious food from the supermarket and hosted a barbecue for 20! Needless to say, we wouldn’t eat here again.

Me and my parents visited here tonight, we love coming to Pen Y Bont as the service is always exceptional, it's a lovely atmosphere and the food is very reasonably priced with perfect portion sizes. Tonight in particular, the service was absolutely incredible - and it Joe's exceptional customer service must be acknowledged. Tonight, I ordered the Vegan Watermelon & Feta Salad. When the salad arrived, there seemed to be no feta with the salad - it was not as described on the menu. After bringing this to the attention of one of the waiters, Joe, he completely understood my concern and disappointment when being presented with the dish. He apologised profusely and explained why the salad could not be prepared to how it is described in the menu, with the menu recently being amended. He gave me a number of alternatives and asked me what I would like to do in regard to my main dish, and he left it entirely down to me and what I would like to do following this scenario. One of these alternatives was to have a vegan burger and fries prepared, a different dish altogether - I asked if this would be possible and he made sure that this was prepared efficiently so that I could enjoy my meal with my parents. He was very attentive and was willing to do anything he could to guarantee that I would enjoy my meal, which really made the night for me. This is the best customer service that I have received in a restaurant. Upon eating my meal with my parents, Joe came back to check that everything was okay before he finished and to apologise again, which really did mean a lot to both me and my parents. It should also be noted that the salad was not actually included in the bill at the end of the meal. I cannot emphasise enough how brilliant the customer service was tonight. We will definitely be coming back, and we are already looking at booking a table for Boxing Day - probably a little bit early but we love it here so much and tonight is an example of one of the many reasons as to why we keep coming back. Thank you...

For Christmas Eve, as a family (party of 8) we went to pen y bont farm to have our Christmas gathering ruined by them. First thing I noticed the lack of hygiene with the cleanliness of the tables. The table I sat on, which was not the same level as the rest of them, was so greasy you could write your name on it. Then I tried to order steak, but they couldn’t be bothered making the peppercorn sauce, so I ordered Hunters chicken. Only to find a longish black hair halfway buried in the cheese. What makes it worse, I just inject myself with insulin which I was in danger of going hypo. So, I waited for the new meal to come while my family finished their meal, then I got my meal. They said, “I have brought your meal, freshly made”. I got annoyed with that remark and said “so the previous one wasn’t fresh”??. I started to eat the chicken only to find that they had rushed it as the chicken was chewy. I tried to eat it as my glucose level would have dropped off if I hadn’t, only to find I had a gagging reaction to the rubbery chicken. The manager came, and I told him the chicken was rubbery, and it had been rushed off. He has denied it and said, "what I can do make it better". At this point, I wanted him to go away as I was in a situation where I could have problems. So I said," Could you turn back time? so I can eat my food with my family. This is a special night, and he has just thought by saying cheap words he is going to make it better. Then he said, "I will not charge you that meal". I would expect them to half the bill for all the problems they created. At the end I had to eat the chips, so I didn’t go hypo.

You need to ask yourselves why are you putting your trust and eating their food, if they can’t even clean the tables, and they serve you food with hair in it, and then they rush your food and bring you disgusting food as specially at...

We were there on the evening of Friday 30th May. Fantastic service from the young lady attending our party of fourteen. Very friendly and considerate - a refreshing change from what often passes as service these days. Would give more stars for service if I could.

Food and drinks were all received well and without any delays. So another 5 stars there!

Only reason for deducting a star is that, much like another establishment on the outskirts of Mold, they often have no tables free at short notice. It's as much a criticism of the psyche of people in this area, as it is the restaurant, but I cannot engage in the apparently popular tendency to book book book (!) everything 3 months in advance, whenever there's anything that even remotely resembles a holiday or festive time of year.

It has been my experince that in many respectable cities it is possible to turn up to a similar establishment and wait only a few minutes for a table. I therefore struggle with the almost engineered exclusivity that exists in some of the out of town restaurants in this area. We've unfortunately failed to get a table at this restaurant many times, even when trying to reserve several days in advance. This is disappointing because it's such a nice place.

4 stars - but make sure you know your evening plans several weeks in advance, especially approaching a...
