Christmas afternoon tea today 3 adults & 3 children. Very disappointed ā¹ļø all pies and pasties were served cold. I would never serve or eat a meat pie with gravy cold. We are not complaining about the quantity of food served but sadly for the cost it was not what we were expecting. There was a lot of the food left so we asked for boxes to take away. The boxes cost Ā£1 per box we paid for 3. We then gave the food left over away not to waste it. I did speak to a member of staff saying that we were not happy. I believe the chef/manager asked me if I had a issue My answer was no just not happy being server with cold food that would have been far nicer being served hot . His answer was afternoon tea all over the world is served cold. When I told him I didnāt agree he threw his arms up in the air and walked away. We do believe in supporting local businesses but sadly we wonāt...
Read moreHad food here this afternoon. Looked rather nice and deserts at the counter were really tempting. Not much on the menu especially if your looking for protein sort of food. I had a ham and cheese omelette with salad and the 2 people I was with had the hancox burger 1 with chips 1 with salad which came with cawlslaw. Omelette was small and lacking filling. When paying for food was charged £3 for cawlslaw that came with salad. Was also charged for sauces that came in a very small pot (McDonald's sauce pot that was half filled) X3 = £1.50. I definitely wouldn't order the omelette and I would advise to bring your own condiments if dining here. Doesn't feel like the custom is appreciated here to be making a huge profit on small things like sauces. Bill came to £49, I'd take my custom elsewhere that...

The chicken and chorizo was full of flavour but also nice and crispy without the oiliness you get with some chorizo enriched dishes. The pastry for the pies was phenomenal - light and crispy while also substantial.
Even better, at £4.50 a pie, they cost the same as a posh pie from M&S or Ocado. Next time I want a pie I'll just pick one up from Hancox's instead.
The natas were the best I've ever had. Beautifully light and crispy with a really satisfying crunch and a perfectly caramelised custard top. The summer fruits tart was similarly delicious and very generously filled.
Would 100% recommend checking it out if you're...
