Booked for 1.30 table of 5 just about suitable probably better for 4 then they could not find us on the list even though we paid our deposits had starter was supposed to be salmon but menus were changed last minute so only thing I liked on menu was prawn cocktail šŸ¹ didn’t enjoy that Service was slow short staffed due to being let down by management change over last minute main meal came around 3pm but was ok with turkey Vegetables and roast potatoes were cooked from frozen left a Ā£6 tip with manageress or owner hope they remember to share with staff as they were extremely helpful toilets were dreadful plus me and my wife have just been tested positive for COVID-19 no social distance no masks Christmas crackers were pathetic Will not be rushing back Table layout was a sham Seat I was on had seen better days

We had a lovely time at the Pontygwindy, the owners were very welcoming when we arrived, we ordered the Thursday offer of an 8oz Rump and a pint for £11.75, both meals were served very quickly, and the steaks were cooked to perfection, and was piping hot, Josh, the trainee chef who cooked our food came out to see if everything was OK mid meal, which was a nice touch, a very polite, pleasant young man he was too. All in all, I can honestly say our experience was a very good one, if I had any negatives to say it would be the tables and chairs could do with updating.

Lovely place, great staff, varied menu, very competitive pricing for drinks and food. Better offers than other pubs in the area! Don't just serve chilli as one customer has stated, not sure what they were reading. I come here regularly and enjoy it every time. As for being bombarded with notifications I would suggest you turn off your location sharing on your mobile device, surely not the pubs fault that you have opted in to googles adverts.

Popped In for lunch with my daughter. There were 6 people in the bar area and about the same in the restaurant part. Loads of tables had empty plates on them as not cleaned away. Not a good look.Ordered sausage and mash, was told sorry we have any sausage or mash. So, I ordered gammon and chips. We also ordered lasagne, which comes with salad and garlic bread. You can also order a side of chips, which i ordered. Then, I asked for sparkling water and lemonade to be told sorry we don't have sparkling water, but you can have tap water. Food came very quickly and looked really good to the eye. We had to ask for cutlery as there wasn't any on the table. After several minutes, I asked for my garlic bread to be told I hadn't ordered garlic bread. I explained that I ordered the chips as an extra as the lasagne comes with garlic bread as per the menu. Only to be told I ordered the wrong lasagne it's the other one. Totally baffled me that one. Food was excellent, and I really enjoyed it. Lasagne was tasty and chips cooked as they should be crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Same for the gammon tasty and perfectly cooked.

Would recommend the food, but not the pub.

I remember when it was the original pontygwindy and then the beefeater. This could be a jewel with the restaurant area...

just been here for food and had the worst experience I've had in a long time. We ordered a burger meal and a mixed grill, the waitress brought out the food which was a chicken burger and mixed grill which we accepted. What we didn't notice is that the burger meal was a chicken burger and nit beef and the mixed grill was a large. After starting to eat our food the bar staff came out and said sorry but we gave you the wrong food. We thought OK no problem mistakes happen. We asked should we stop eating it she said no it's OK il sort it out. She then came back out and said we had to pay the difference which of course we wasn't happy to do as it was your mistake. The manager then came out and said were not cooking your sides now until you pay the difference. When we tried to have our say and that we wasn't happy they made out we was being rude and asked us to leave. All that over what was £7 in total. £1 extra for the chicken burger meal and £6 for the mixed grill. We'll done girls, bad review for £7 at your own fault. Very rare i leave a bad review but i dont think ive ever been asked to pay for a restaurants mistske, unheard of! The female manager and her female bar staff were extremely rude about the situation. Would not recommend this place and won't go there again. No wonder...

My two daughters went for lunch at The Pontygwindy, one aged 14 and one aged 18. My 14 yr old ordered Cajun Chicken and the meal was so spicy it was covered in chilli spices which is totally acceptable however I was very concerned that nobody would warn a small girl of this. She could not eat the chicken and actually brought a little bit home for me to try as she did not know how to complain. I called to complain and from the offset the woman I was speaking to clearly had no customer service skills. Her tone was certainly not the right tone of someone that should be dealing with complaints. I was left online whilst she called across the bar to ask someone else if they had warned my daughter that this dish was extremely hot. The reply was "I assumed she knew what Cajun was" As a family of 7 we will certainly never visit Not because of the meal but because my daugher's complaint was treated quite meaninglessly. I also work opposite and will now take my...
