Had food with my mum and my auntie today, the drinks are nice while we waited. We ordered at 17:11 and the food did not arrive until 17:55.
During the wait we were wondering what was taking so long as my mum had steak and chips (very very well done) my auntie fish and chips and myself sausage and mash and gravy. We said with it taking this long at least it will be fresh and hot. (Nope) we were just about to ask what was taking so long when it arrived. The staff were lovely and said it took so long as the stake takes 30 minutes to cook and a bit longer as it was very well done. The stake was nicely cooked but it was luke warm as my mum gave me a small bit to taste.
When the staff came to ask if everything was ok we mentioned the stake and the lady offered to take it back and cook another but we would have to wait another 30-40 minutes, said no as we were hungry and in a bit of a hurry and it did taste nice despite not being very hot. After she appologised (she did not know what else to say really) we carried on eating our meal
The chips were neither fresh or hot they were dark brown and tasted if they had been previously been cooked, left and then put back in to warm up.
My aunties fish, was hotter then the stake, she said it was lovely and so were the onion rings, only fault was the mushy peas as it came in a small pot no bigger than a tea spoon full, she said she should of had the garden peas as that was a better serving.
My sausages and mash and gravy was nice (gave my onion rings to my auntie) until the end when I found a foreign item mixed in with my mash, I cut it in half as we could not decide if it was a chip or piece of pastry of the edge of a pie, I took a picture of it, it was definitely one or the other but either way it should not have been in the mash. As I did not have chips or a pie.
The dinners had faults but they were nice and did have taste and flavor. For the reasons mentioned above we did not stay for desserts.
My mother and auntie said they would eat there again as they have had nice meals there before, me on the other hand I doubt I will go...
Read moreDisappointed at this visit - not sure if there will be a revisit. Arrived at 13.45 on Saturday to find 90% of tables and conservatory full but with 90% already served and eating. Sat down with drinks and waited for order to be taken ... noone came for 15 mins so front of desk took order .... Waited 25 mins to get incomplete orders of warm food on cold plates. Black soggy chips (reheated) and inedible peas with sea bass (Nice but not hot) and poor green beans and missing garlic drizzle and missing sun dried tomatoes with cod (Nice but not hot). No check backs to see about the meal, mo chance to give info. Only 4 people came in for meals after us so kitchen was not overworked. Front of desk was though ... she ran around doing everything... Would I visit again - unlikely - shame as it has a lot of things in it favour. Need good motivated and interested staff to make a successful team. Hope the pub and...

We recently visited this lovely pub and were genuinely impressed. The food was delicious — proper pub classics and done really well, with a few seasonal specials that were a nice touch. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or attentive, and the whole place had a really friendly, relaxed vibe.
One of the best parts is the large outdoor space — there’s a small park and garden area that’s perfect for kids to run around in, especially in the summer. It made such a difference being able to sit and enjoy a drink while the little ones were happily entertained.
We also hosted my sister’s baby shower here in the conservatory, and it was just perfect. Light, airy, and beautifully set up — the team really went above and beyond to make the day special.
Highly recommend for a casual meal, family day out, or even a private event. Will...
