We were regulars at this restaurant, who live locally. The food has gone downhill since new owners took over a few years ago (before that it was unbelievable). We have not eaten there for a while now, ever since we had a hollandaise sauce served to us that was clearly off. Yuk. That said it's very child friendly. And very cosy in winter. Sunday lunch is very good here too (avoid the hollandaise sauce in your starters though). The chef's wife is lovely and makes you feel welcome. However, the chef/owner is completely self obsessed, which is evidenced by the pictures of himself and various celebrities plastered all over the walls (there isn't one of him and his lovely wife). He never speaks to us when we eat there either, suggesting a unaccountable air of loftiness. I'm sure he's a nice guy at heart. But he could work on his customer facing skills. Read more18 of us went for Sunday lunch and it was so bad it was comical....... The beef was literally inedible. It was so chewy you couldn't cut it. When this was brought to the attention of the owner, her response was " would you like me to bring you a steak knife?" . I suggested that perhaps we could have dessert on the house to make up for the fact we couldn't eat the beef and she said if we didn't like it then don't come back. Don't worry I won't be heading back. Such a shame as it could be a great restaurant if only they listened to customer...
