Not one to write reviews but we just had the most disappointing Valentineâs Day meal... My partner and I live local and had never visited here before but heard good things from those around us (although they did visit around 2 years ago) so decided to give it a go. Money is tight so eating out isnât something we do often so you can imagine the disappointment when we realised that we could have made a much nicer meal ourselves. To begin with, staff avoided making eye contact with us the whole time so we were sat waiting to order anything for about 30 minutes. When we finally did, we were only then told that they werenât offering the set menu that night so we then needed to send wait staff away so we could make a different decision all over again. We asked for a jug of water, possibly the most simple request ever, and it never arrived! They managed to remember to put it on the receipt though. The food did come out quickly thankfully! I ordered the king prawns main and the waitress who took our order was very helpful and said sheâd ask them to take the shells off for me so I appreciate that. however, I was presented with 6 very small prawns. I believe this dish was around ÂŁ26 so this was astonishing. The meal was nice but I was still hungry afterwards and not willing to spend a penny more. My partner had a âtender beefâ dish that was far from tender, in fact so dry he couldnât finish it, which is not like him at all. He also got a mixed vegetable side that looked like some veg out of a bag from Tescoâs frozen aisle. Weâve worked in a restaurant ourselves so we understand that it was probably a busier night than usual and perhaps everyone was a bit stressed but both service and food was so poor that we wonât ever come back. Also, I donât really see how they can justify the prices they charge when the restaurant is literally in Skewen, not a particular nice location, prices you would expect down the Mumbles for example. The waiter at the end did ask if everything was okay, I think he could see from the large amount of leftover food on my partnerâs plate and our willingness to get out of there that we werenât happy. My partner was working a night shift shortly after so we simply didnât have time to be sending food back and didnât feel comfortable enough to complain due to some staffâs level of ignorance. Save your money and get an M&S dine in...

âš Nestled on the main road in Skewen, La Casona is a Mediterranean haven blending Italian and Spanish cuisines.
đĄ Tip: Donât miss their weekday dealâ3 courses for just ÂŁ23.50.
đźđč đȘđž Being a Mediterranean restaurant, we opted for a balance of both types of cuisines - and it sure did pay off đ„č
We Had:
Mocktails (v. Addictive): đč Strawberry Daiquiri đž P* Martini
Starters: đ Insalata Caprese đźđč đ Chicken & Chorizo CroquetasđȘđž
Mains: đ„ Pollo al Ajo with salted potatoesđȘđž đ Spaghetti Carbonarađźđč đ§ Garlic pizza breadđźđč
Dessert: đź Tiramisu đźđč
đ The Insalata Caprese was fresh and vibrant, featuring perfectly ripe tomatoes and creamy mozzarella. đ§ The Croquetas were crispy on the outside and gorgeously creamy inside, offering the perfect bite of Spanish comfort. đ Something completely unique and stunning was the Pollo al Ajo. It stole the show with bold, garlicky flavors and tender chicken paired with perfectly seasoned salted potatoes. đ The Spaghetti Carbonara was rich, indulgent, and hearty - and not sickly at all đ«¶đŒ đ The garlic pizza bread was simple yet satisfyingâperfect for sharing. đ° To round off the meal, the Tiramisu was a showstopper. Light, creamy, and perfectly balanced with coffee and mascarpone, it was the ideal ending to a superb meal.
đ€© Special thanks to Cezary and Karen for their fantastic service and warm hospitalityâthey made the evening extra special.
La Casona is proof that the best hidden gems are often hiding in plain sight. đ

Read moreTerrible take away and service Pizza was cold and under cooked Spaghetti bolognaise was undercooked tasteless and very little meat Disappointed is an understatement
Update Phone call from la Casona after 2 emails (which were ignored) and having to chase via a phone call Not taken seriously and was told that they have strict rules to make sure food is cooked through. Not sure why no one noticed it wasnât or why it was bright green (I still donât know the answer to either). Was laughed at and told it was obviously fine as it was half eaten (by my 15 year old daughter who said I canât eat any more itâs awful) This is when we noticed it wasnât cooked properly. I was told as they look after their customers and they would have replaced it had I gone back straight away - was down the beach so not an option. I only complained as many people said I should which is why I didnât go back at the time. He said they never get complaints or bad reviews, so this proves that I am wrong and their food is always of a high standard. This is why this place has gone downhill and why itâll never improve. They have said that as a good will gesture, and not because theyâre at fault, they will refund the undercooked green pizza but not the spaghetti bolognaise because it was cooked perfectly (according to the person who I spoke with not the person who tried to eat it). So not only have I had a terrible take away from here Iâve been laughed at, called a lair and not been apologised to. Stay...
