Second visit to this restaurant. Been once before and it was good. Went tonight and ordered a dish. It arrived and we started eating. Noticed a strange flavour and found some kind of smoked meat which tainted the whole meal. The issue is that this smoked meat wasn't listed on the menu. We didn't say anything at the time as I thought I'd made a mistake and didn't see it listed. When I got home I was curious and checked the menu. It just wasn't there. I phoned the restaurant and was told nothing could be done. Didn't even offer an apology for this missell (gutted as I gave a fiver tip). It's a shame but I won't be going here again as they add mystery ingredients so you don't know what you're getting. I bet La Ricetta reply to this review saying we should have told them at the but again, we thought it was us who made the error. Bottom line is they should list it on the menu and train staff to apologise if they make a mistake like in this case. -----EDITING---- in response to below owner reply. Hi Jane, You've lost your integrity with your reply. First off, what would have happened if I was Muslim? Do you think adding pork without it being on the menu would be a good option? You could have been sued in that scenario. Also, yes I left a tip for the waitresses because this wasn't their fault. Though I admit I regretted it when there was no apology when we phoned about the issue late on. Bit of a snotty attitude on whoever we spoke with. Also, I've no idea what you're talking about when you mentioned asking if we wanted an alternative. It's a shame you just couldn't bring yourself to apologise because I would have changed this review but I've not seen anything regarding customer service that'd allow me to do this. We just wanted it to be acknowledged that putting unlisted meat in meals, is wrong, especially if it's pork.
To add, I've contacted the food standard agency so there'll be some contact for you soon. I mentioned how devastating this would have been if I was Muslim.
Update 26 Sep.
How did the visit from the food standards agency go? I believe they've made you add the true ingredients to your menu? Though, the agency said you always tell the customer what's in the dish when it's ordered. Well, we both know thats a lie as we wouldn't be in this situation if you did. Its a shame the person we spoke with to complain that evening didn't have...
Read moreWent for a meal there to celebrate my birthday. This was my second visit after few years ago which was a much better experience when they used to make a homemade pasta. We left very disappointed and wont come back to this place again!
It was a complete waste of money. Food was tasteless, shop spaghetti undercooked, sauce bland and watery, spicy meat balls disgusting, made from frozen no flavour and full of tons of pepper. Mushrooms were swimming in a creamy watery sauce like in a pool, garlic of pancetta tomatoe salad was burning your mouth to tears. Left, Didnt finish our plates. My daughter said that I cook much much better! We were completely shocked!!!
Update: you cant comment on my name, it is what it is, we dont choose our names and comment on it is very rude of you. I understand that you didnt like my comment but that what you need to work on and improve...
Read moreI recommend La Ricetta very highly. In 2009 I moved with some reluctance from Liverpool to Prestatyn to live with my then-boyfriend-now-husband. I expected my dining experiences to suffer as I was leaving the Big City for the Provinces. I am happy to say La Ricetta was a big part of making me fall in love with Prestatyn, it is genuinely metro quality at rural prices. As a vegan I expected to feel like an alien in a small Welsh town and phoned ahead one night to see if the chef and staff even knew what a vegan was. Not only did Derek know exactly my dietary requirements but he assured me he would make me a meal exactly to order: chilli, garlic, choice of veg etc. Since then I have taken all my visiting or local friends, vegan and not, my family and introduced other locals to this gem. Don't miss it. There aren't many places...
