The moment I stepped into Malsters Pub, it felt like entering a world where time slows down and laughter lingers in the air. The decor is a delightful mix of vintage pub charm and an eclectic array of knick-knacks you'd find in your grandma’s attic. I half expected to stumble upon a hidden time machine among the antique clocks and dusty portraits.
The staff? They’re like the Avengers of hospitality.
Maggie, with her infectious laugh, could probably cure the common cold. She recommended the Bira Moretti, which was so good it almost made me give up on my quest for a six-pack (of abs, not beer).
Now, let’s talk about the locals. They range from the local philosopher who’ll debate the meaning of life with you over a pint to the aspiring karaoke star whose rendition of “Sweet Caroline” could make Neil Diamond reconsider his career.
The beer selection is impressive, I tried something called “San Miguel,” which tasted like regular lager with a dash of lemonade. But hey, I’m not complaining – it was delicious and gave me the courage to challenge a stranger to a game of darts. (Spoiler: I lost. Badly.)
Malsters Pub is the kind of place where strangers become friends and friends become karaoke partners. Whether you’re there for the drinks or just to soak in the quirky atmosphere, you’re guaranteed a night full of laughter and memories.
Rating: 5/5 pint glasses – because any pub that makes you feel like a cherished regular on your first visit is worth its weight in beer!
Hope this brings a smile...

I recently visited this lovely community pub in the heart of Whitchurch, Cardiff, and was really impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly chatter from the regulars, who made me feel right at home. It’s clear that this pub is the hub of the local community, and the atmosphere is welcoming to newcomers and locals alike.
The selection of beers is fantastic, with a good variety of ales, lagers, and ciders on tap – something for every taste. The staff are knowledgeable about the different beers and are more than happy to offer recommendations if you’re unsure of what to try.
For sports fans, this place is a real treat. There are plenty of screens showing live sport, so you’re never far from the action. Whether it's football, rugby, or cricket, the pub has a great atmosphere.
Overall, this pub is a true gem with a genuine community spirit, great drinks, and a traditional pub atmosphere which is so lacking these days. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI was hoping for a good time at The Maltsters after reading the reviews, but what a complete waste. The first and most significant problem was the beer, I order a pint of ale, and it arrived at a temperature more suited for a bath than a beverage. It was warm, flat and an insult to the brewery it came from.
The glassware was not much better, had to ask for a clean glass also.
The service was practically non-existent. We felt like an inconvenience to the staff, who were more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving customers. The atmosphere was just as bad, awful music (assume it was dance or something to that effect), and a general air of neglect throughout the place.
There are plenty of better places to get a decent drink and shred of...
