Visited today. I do not have any issue with dogs but do not understand the new trend for taking a dog to a coffee shop/restaurant. One customer's dog barking loudly at another customer's dog. Is this honestly a good place for a dog to be? In a busy, noisy environment? For either the dog or other customers? Do you really think your dog is enjoying itself? Another aspect to this, dog gets up, shakes itself. Lit up by the sun, i watched dog hair flying everywhere. The dog owner then stood up, waiting to leave, but dog kept jumping up placing it's paws on the table. Is this really hygienic practice for a food premise? I don't think so. Dogs are supposed to remain on the floor but how good is this in practice? Dogs enjoy jumping up or putting their little noses on the table especially where there is food. If they are not allowed in supermarkets/shops where a high percentage of food is wrapped, why are they allowed in food premises where the food is served openly on plates, cutlery on the table? It's fine if you choose to have dogs in your own home that's your choice but i would have a problem with a human hair in my food, a side order of dog hair in a food premises? No thanks. Who will clean up should the dogs have an "accident" and is this something customers would want to see if they are eating? Sentimentality for dogs is now taking precedent over common sense and good food hygiene practices. No point cleaning your kitchen if your serving areas are covered in dog hair which could be transferable back to the kitchen via plates or spreading them from table to table via cloths etc. Sorry but I don't think I want to go back. Trying to be positive, staff...

However, today was notably bad.
Ordered a large lemonade for nearly £3.00 and was presented with a flat glass of lemonade, very little carbonation. Also came with a slice of lemon, which I'm not a personal fan of as you can never know if they use tongs of their fingers, possible contamination.
Partner ordered a cappuccino, however the maker of the drink went nuts and literally coated the handle in chocolate dusting.
The food.
Waited 25+mins for 2 lounge breakfast, both with 1-2 add ons.
The food was overall lukewarm, with stiff bacon, overcooked fried/poached eggs, no butter for toast so very dry.
Only I received a grilled tomato, partner did not and there were no mushrooms, clearly labeled on the menu.
But to top off the experience, an employees hair inside the overcooked poached egg was the cherry on top.
Really put us off our food. Noticed employees only came to either serve food and sit customers, the notion of checking on customers after receiving the items was non existent, to a comical point of they probably know their standards/practices are dropping.
I also understand that they allow dogs inside, which I have no quarrel with. However, if you advertise this option at least attempt to clean the premises. There were visible hairs floating in the air, which was also disgusting.
Honestly, I wouldn't reccomend this place. The fact that they charge premium prices, the meal came to £30.00+ but fail to reach the standards of a Wetherspoons is unreal.
Thanks for reading and I hope you never get the chance to...
Read moreThe staff are very friendly and welcoming which is always a good sign. The choice of food on the menu is broad and ought to cater for most tastes including vegetarian, vegan and gluten intolerant options; the choices of alcoholic beverages is mostly unfortunately limited to ‘lager’ based ales albeit some of the slightly more tasteful European types; no doubt this reflects the general age groups the establishment is encouraging to visit.
Five of us had dinner in the early evening; three adults and two teenagers as there was plenty of option on the menu for younger preferences.
The internal deco is themed with old style industrial lighting and more homely lampshades in another section making for an interesting mix of styles.
It was a midweek visit and the place was busy making for a noisy environment; however the music was not too loud it was simply the sound of conversation in an environment that reflected sound off the walls; that said many popular establishments have similar problems; people seem to think of noise as somehow atmospheric. A simple solution to noise pollution is to possibly have some soft furnishing on or near the walls or ceiling or if considered a fire hazard there are some other options available that ought not to be too costly; this would greatly improve the ambiance for those people such as grandparents taking their grandchildren out for an evening meal.
The table service was a bit haphazard as there were some untimely waits for some dishes to arrive whilst others came along quickly.
The Fino Lounge however, is well...
