Another Indian restaurant ticked off the bucket list 😏 ✅

📍Mango Tree🌴

I've actually lost count now at how many Indian restaurants I've visited since I started this page so many years ago, the goal is to eventually try them all! 💯

One day maybe I will complete this mission! 😅

For today's visit I am in Whitchurch, Cardiff visiting one of the areas most popular Indian restaurants.

➡️ Today's Menu:

🍗 Chicken Chaat

Tandoori marinated chicken, sealed in chaat massala sauce.

🔥 Chicken Sizzler

Chicken cooked in a clay oven fried with sliced onions and peppers spiced with sweet chilli sauce.

🍛 Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken Tikka cooked red Massala sauce.

🌶️ Hyderabad

Tender chicken with ginger & curry leaves served in Chef’s Special sauce with potatoes.

🍚 Pilau Rice/ Garlic Coriander Rice

🫓 Keemar / Garlic Naan

🍺 Roar Beer

🍽️ Review:

Just when I think I've tried all of the best Indian restaurants in Cardiff, another beauty pops up!

I can see why this restaurant is popular on the Uber Eats platform, as genuinely everything we ordered was lovely. Very authentic flavours, good portion sizes and I would say very good value for money too 👏

The service was also very good, very friendly and attentive staff.

We both loved the Chicken Chaat and the Chicken sizzler, both dishes quite spicy and very moreish.

In terms of our mains - Haylz opted for the Tikka Massala which she really liked although did find it slightly spicy compared to other Tikka's she's tried, so definitely worth noting when ordering.

I went for the Hyderabad and this was excellent, medium spice I would say but it was bursting with flavors and just cooked perfectly. If you've never tried this dish, it's somewhere in between a Bhuna and Madras if I was to compare it! 😋

Plus did I mention they serve Roar Beer here too, a must have when ordering your curry! Just compliments the food so well! 🍻

Definitely...

Had a takeaway this evening ordered at 5.15pm and selected 7pm for delivery. Turned up 30 minutes after ordering, the driver phoned me at 5.47pm stating they were outside with my order. I wasnt home so said come back. I asked if it would be re-cooked for 7pm the driver said yes. Upon receiving my order at 6.50pm i asked the driver if it had been re-cooked and he asked if my order was warm, which i thought was odd. He probably didnt have a clue but eating the food with the mentality that it has been microwaved as the naan bread was cold and the onion bhaji and chips dryer than the duct tube of a tumble dryer. Ive booked an appointment with the dentist after eating the lamb aswell. I was recommended this restaurant as a good place, but wish i ordered from somewhere else down the road that i normally do. After paying £30 for one meal if it was genuinely re-cooked I couldnt tell or would eat...

We ordered bindi bhaji and it had prawns in it. It is a vegetarian dish that does not contain any meat or fish. My husband was about to eat it but I stopped him as soon as I saw prawns. We are purely vegetarian. When I asked the staff about it, there was no apology whatsoever but “I don’t know how it happened” & “we make it normally separately”. We could have at least gotten a humble apology which we did not at all. Absolutely disgusted by the whole situation, the hunger just finished the moment I saw prawns. If you are vegetarian or vegan even allergic to fish KEEP AWAY, do not eat from...

I've been a regular at the Mango Tree for quite a few years now and Saj and his Team have done a great job in building a successful Restaurant. When I visited tonight, a Thursday, it was busy despite being quite early. Always a good sign. The menu is extensive so there's always something new to choose if you so wish. I went for the Mushroom and Paneer Biryani. You won't get this elsewhere. It's really tasty. I also have to give a shout out to Shane the Delivery Driver. You're guaranteed to get your food in double quick time.

Myself and my son had the “Thursday buffet” today, this place has become our go to Indian restaurant/takeaway. It was any starter, any main, any rice, any nann and ice cream to finish. I had a bottle of “Roar beer” my son had a bottle of magners & a single JD with coke and it all came to under £50! Thank you to Abdul & his team we will see you soon.
