McDonald's — Restaurant in Wales

Visited at noon 10/3/23. Easy access off A40, lots of wide bay parking, easy / quick ordering, food was really tasty and, clearly, just cooked (unlike some McDonald's where it's obvious it's been hanging around for a, albeit relatively, short period of time). Had chilli cheese melts (particularly nice), chicken selects (hot, well-cooked, crispy), Mcflurry. Nice, clean eating area with attentive staff. The only issue I had with this particular McDonald's is there is a children's 'Play' game display, where children (and adults, I guess) use the table below the 'Play' game display to play whatever games are available. Trouble is, the game the children were playing on my visit involved slapping the table hard and repeatedly, for (what seemed) about 30 minutes. Very annoying! Have never seen this before. Maybe McDonald's could find less slappy games for children to play. Have never come across this before in any of the other dozens & dozens of McDonald's I have visited over the years, so it's not as if I'm not used to the 'normal' atmosphere inside them. If it wasn't for this, I would have given 5 stars across the board, although I didn't use the toilet facilities, so cannot comment on that. Will, however, try this restaurant again at some point, cos I'm brave and am prepared to sacrifice myself for the good of...

So this McDonalds is one of the many that manipulates their statistics by removing orders from the system before they are ready/given to customers. This makes them look like they're doing a better job than they actually are in the eyes of their regional managers (I used to work there so I have seen it 1st hand). We placed 2 separate orders, the 1st of which was ready relatively quickly. We waited another 15 minutes for the 2nd order until I politely queried it's status. It turned out they handed it to another customer in error and we would have been sat there indefinitely if I hadn't questioned it. Because both orders had been removed from the queue before even being made we had no way of knowing that the staff thought the order was complete - and I suspect they realised they had made a mistake as they never called out the 2nd order number and decided to ignore the problem rather than figure out where they had gone wrong. By the time we had both orders the 1st order was stone cold. If you appreciate warm food and attention to detail, go...

Very bad customer service. Ordered a very simple fillet of fish burger (which you are forced to convert to a meal, just the burger is not possible). It took nearly 20 minutes to serve, after being told on the screen that the order was ready halfway through. Went to the counter to be told that they had 'forgotten the fillet of fish' so it would be another 4 mins, which was another 10 minutes.

From the customer side, you can see how i) drive throughs get priority over walk in, ii) nobody in the kitchen seems to have any sense of urgency or focus iii) they seem to spend more time joking and flirting with each other than even remembering that they are only in jobs because of customers, including (presumably, he had a white shirt on) the on duty manager.

It didn't help to see an off duty member of staff order about 3 orders after me, to get his burger within a couple of minutes. To be expected I suppose from a chain like this.

You get what you pay for and from the quality you choose. Simple....
