We booked the table to go in The Plough for Thursday night. The restaurant is behind you and goes through the pub. Went with my gym friends. We ordered some chicken and chorizo on flatbread, which looked quite nice, and I think it tasted good too. I ordered the same but with Halloumi, although mine was a bit too hard, so I was a little bit disappointed. Could do with the more sauce or something to go with it. The flat bread was really nice and soft. Some of the ladies ordered Gammon with peppercorn sauce, which was delicious. In the end we ordered some desserts which were really nice. One of them ordered the chocolate dome where you pour the hot chocolate, and the covering reveals the dessert inside, which was nice. I ordered apple and cherry crumbed with custard very nice...looked like the custard was made from scratch came out nice and hot and fresh. Some of them ordered the chocolate brownie with ice cream, which was nice, too. In the end, we paid around £24 each, with the discount one of the ladies had. Overall, it was a good time and experience, but I would like to add that there needs to be more chicken and vegetarian dishes. Not all people eat fish or red meat.

Hi, Food was excellent. Best Christmas meal of any year and will be back to try a steak in new year. The disappointment was the fact that required all the meal selections ahead of the day. It was 9 person and a baby. The orders come out in a timely manor. Then the same with the mains, but where are the extra cheese roast potatoes that we ordered. Oh after we started our mains they were Will to get them but it would take a further 4 minutes. I explained by that time we would be half through the mains and to cancel that request. My daughter ordered the sea bass if you go and order this I recommend you don’t it’s the smallest piece of fish you would ever sea. My gold fish is larger and for the expense should be a reasonable size or take off menu and provide salmon. My question is if this is all ordered prior to arrival. Why are there parts of the order missing. Computers.? Staff were excellent though I must say.

Had been working all day and didn’t manage to get here til 6.15pm. Rang in advance and they confirmed they were still doing Sunday Roast. Only Turkey and Pork left due to late in day but the Turkey was delicious. Came with a great selection of vegetables: roast spuds, parsnip, peas, red cabbage, mangetout. Other Trimmings: Stuffing and Yorkshire, cranberry sauce. I ordered cauliflower cheese as well. Had the Banoffee ice cream cake with caramel sauce for desert. Excellent. Service was excellent too. Best eating out experience I’ve had in a while. Top marks.

Arrived to a table for 3 even though I had requested on line to increase it to 5. Once seated correctly the table was sticky and frankly made us feel like it wasn’t clean. Menus arrived and after a few minutes drinks order was taken. I don’t know how long it took for them to arrive but it took far too long. Once they arrived I was expecting to give an order for food but the waiter said he has other drinks to deliver and another order to take first. We waited for a total of 40 minutes. At that time I called the Indian restaurant a few doors down and booked us in there. That booking was made for 730. We arrived at the plough at 635. I went to the bar to pay for drinks but no one was there and there was already a frustrated young lady waiting to order drinks. I saw our waiter in the corner of the restaurant so approached him and asked to pay for the drinks as we were leaving. He obliged and apologised for the slow service. I in no way blame the waiter for this disastrous birthday party booking as he was trying to run the whole floor on his own.

We arrived at the Indian, ordered drinks, starters and mains. When we left there we walked past your restaurant and noticed through the window that the table of 7 were just receiving their main courses. ( they ordered while we were waiting for our drinks to arrive). We have enjoyed your establishment many years ago and when we last visited it wasn’t great either. However a couple of years had passed and I thought I would be nice to return.

What a disaster.

With so many terrific food establishments in Whichcurch and Rhwibina you really need to take a grip on your business and...

My husband and myself attended the Plough for Sunday lunch. The food (fish & chips & Roast Beef) were fine albeit pretty expensive. Certainly nothing to make one 'one's mouth water - just ok.(Typical pub grub).

The receptionist on the desk did not give the best impression on walking into the pub. (She was swigging from a bottle and her dress (denim shorts etc) looked far from professional.

The table was 'sticky' and I asked for it to be wiped but was told the Manager had tried to lacquer the tables during Covid and basically left them in a sticky disposition and that was some 5 years ago!

I myself am in hospitality and I definitely would not have allowed a member of my staff to appear so unprofessional at front of house, and as for the tables, I certainly would have rectified the situation well before now - even if funds prevented new tables, I would have used a table cloth or table mats at the very least. The member of staff that served us said we should use the menus as table mats as the tables were so sticky!! I suggested she speak to the Manager about either using a cloth or use mats on the table and her response was "we have, but he doesn't listen"! I rest my case - poor management!!!

All things considered particularly in light of what you are charging for a Sunday lunch, I would have grave misgivings in recommending your establishment...

The server seated us, handed us the menus and told us they had finished serving Sunday Lunch, which was helpful, although at 8pm on Sunday night, I hadn’t expected they would still be serving it.

We studied the menu. I fancied the Steak and Ale pie. When she came to take our order, she said they had run out of this item. The only 2 tables present when we arrived were finished, or nearly so, so it hadn’t gone since we arrived. Don’t you hate choosing something that appeals then being told that it is unavailable?

We ordered our food and drinks.

The drinks only arrived just before our meal, some 15 minutes later. Odd, when no one else was waiting to be served food or drink in the restaurant.

The food was reasonable pub grub. My mushroom and chicken pie had nice crisp pastry. There was no need to provide a little jug with more gravy as plenty had been put on the meal already – I’d prefer to do this myself. The veg and mash wouldn’t win any prizes, and weren't as good as I would do at home, but they were ok.

We had a “30% off mains” voucher and at the price we paid, I’d probably give 4 stars. But at the full price, which most people will pay most of the time, it feels...
