India Gate Restaurant & Takeaway (Cardiff) — Restaurant in Wales

My overall experience was very poor. We were rudely sat down at 8pm after booking for 7:30. During our experience at the establishment we were greeted with poor attitude and an unwelcoming atmosphere. After being seated we waited a long hour and a quarter for our not so warm food to arrive. Not only was are food bog standard my friend and I were presented with a piece of chicken that seemed to still be clucking. After letting the staff know they brought out a new piece of chicken with no problems. However when it came to the bill we really did expect the minimum of a discount on the raw meal. We had he opposit, we had been over charged for what was not only sub par but below the “human rights act of 1986”. As we addressed this to the manger we were not only spoken to very rudely but also refused a discount and made to feel unwelcome and almost ushered out of the restaurant. The experience overall. Ok, but not brilliant. Restaurant was full on a Thursday evening, which is a good sign, but the meal wasn’t the best. Positives: poppodums and chutneys were plentiful and really good. Rest: onion bhajis came out within 3 minutes of ordering. Strange flat bhajis, which were only just fine in taste. Main courses were chicken tikka karai and chicken tikka green masala. The karai tasted as if the spices were burned - not very appetising. The green masala promised a sauce including mixed vegetables and mint. It contained plenty of peas but not much more than that. As for the mint, it tasted like they’d added mint sauce rather than fresh mint. Really weird and not great. Garlic naan was dry, crispy and didn’t look fresh with garlic granules burned into it, rather than garlic butter. I’m glad it’s popular and the locals like it, but...

Booked a table for 7.30, eventually sat down at 8. Our order was taken at 8.30 also ordering wine, we had to ask where the drinks were quarter of an hour later. . . . Still no food though. Eventually at 9.45pm the food arrived three of the meals were correct the fourth one was completely wrong. They offered to take it back but we were all so hungry by then that we just accepted it. We called for the manager and he agreed to deduct the price of the drinks.
