Called in today for a light lunch with my Mother. We both ordered the Broccoli and kale soup. However we both found it to be very bland and tasteless and one of the worst soups I’ve ever tasted. One of the nice friendly waitresses immediately returned our soups to the kitchen after we both expressed our dissatisfaction and we stated we did not want them. We both had a ploughman’s sandwich instead which was very tasty but on the small size for the price. We also had two pots of tea,a Latte and One crumble dessert.
The bill came to £28!!!
Which is a fortune for what we had and the waitress explained that her boss had told her to still charge us for one of the soups even though we had both only had a spoonful out of each bowl before complaining immediately. My mother paid the waitress and we left feeling really ripped off and disappointed. We have both visited the cafe many times over the years and previously enjoyed the food. I don’t believe we should have been charged for something we didn’t eat especially as we did order alternatives.
We will never been setting foot into Roots Cafe Abergele...

Read moreA cafe with a difference for me. No faulting the staff, who are smiley, and friendly. The menu covers everyone, and is well 'signed', with variety for us carnivorous, veggies, and the vegans. Might just be me, some of the drinks are plant based, coconut milk, etc, instead of dairy, if you prefer. Smoothies, fruit teas, 'normal' teas, variety of coffees, including local! I had the Roots breakfast, which cost over £8, but filled the plate, until I got my choppers going! Their 'eggs ben', was also a good size. Dining is available, inside, and out. And spotless. Will be...
