Apologies it’s taken me a while to review! My husband and I paid a visit with our 2 kids for our daughter’s 12th birthday, as she was wanting a nice curry. This place came highly recommended by a friend who is a regular customer. I have to say, we were very impressed! The decor and ambiance was lovely. We went early evening when they first opened and were the only ones in the. Staff was attentive, but wasn’t hovering over us. The food was very hot and fresh! The one thing I find with curry houses is it is often difficult to know how much to order. You order one curry and one rice and it’s too much for one person, but too little for 2! This isn’t a problem here. The amount of rice and curry in one serving or each, is perfect for one person to be nicely satisfied, yet not over full. The naan bread are a decent size for a nice fill for one person, with a bit leftover. It’s not overfacing! I felt like our money went to much better use in this restaurant. The poppadums were delicious, along with the tray of toppings. The chicken pakora was fees and spot on. The peshwari naan was great. The deserts were absolutely delicious, creamy ice cream in a pineapple, mango and coconut to match the flavor ice cream. We are planning on another visit in the next week or 2! Highly recommend!

Service was horrendous really really slow. Just poorly managed chaos. Regulars just laughed and this is normal. This place is in a remote Welsh village and packed with people happily queing into the Street and putting up with the Mayhem to get there turn. I had the chef special Lamb shank. I have eaten in many Indian restaurants and travelled around India. I was with a friend from India who is in the UK on work. And we both agreed it is probably some of the best Indian food we have ever eaten. Just INCREDIBLE. It really should get 5 stars. But you can't ignore the food.

When we entered, the waiters were very attentive. But after we went in and ordered, we had to wait exactly 1 hour. They attach great importance to phone orders and takeaway orders. You wait inside, it's impossible not to get angry. The portions were incredibly small and the meal was really below my expectations. It is definitely not worth the money we paid. Would I go again? NEVER! If you're going to choose it, I suggest you think a few times or get a takeaway and at least you won't have to wait. Also their papadums are really bad.

My recent dining experience at Shapla was nothing short of disappointing and frankly humiliating. It is evident that this establishment places a higher priority on their takeaway business rather than providing a satisfactory in-house dining experience.

Upon arrival, we were ushered to a seemingly good table, which gave us a glimmer of hope for the evening ahead. However, this hope quickly faded as we sat there, seemingly invisible to the restaurant staff. No member of the restaurant team displayed any interest in taking our order or even acknowledging our presence.

What made this experience even more exasperating was the sweltering heat of the evening. One would expect that on such a hot day, the staff would, at the very least, check if we required any refreshments. But alas, this basic courtesy was completely absent from our visit.

It wasn't until my wife and I decided that we had waited long enough, and it was clear that our presence was of no concern to the staff, that they finally sprang into action. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. We had already made up our minds to leave the restaurant, our evening ruined by the neglect and indifference we had experienced.

I have dined at many establishments in the past, but never have I felt as humiliated and insulted as I did at Shapla. The blatant disregard for our presence and the lack of even the most basic customer service left a lasting negative impression. Under these circumstances, it is safe to say that I will not be returning to Shapla...

We dined in at this restaurant whilst on holiday in the area. I am vegan & the staff were accommodating in adapting some dishes to my needs which was greatly appreciated. My food was good but not outstanding, but I am somewhat spoiled because I live in an area with some very authentic South Asian restaurants. The portion sizes were also smaller than comparable restaurants. However, my family members said their food was delicious. It didn't detract from the experience but the beaten up chairs should be replaced. The staff were polite but not overly attentive & when we were given our bill nobody came to take payment despite us trying to get their attention, so we paid...
