Overall, the food and coffee were nice. I had about an hour or so to kill in the morning in town so I thought I’d go in to do some work. When I received my coffee I was told that there was a half an hour limit in the cafe for people with laptops during the summer period. As kind as the lady was about this I couldn’t help feeling taken aback. The cafe was not busy when I entered and there was still plenty of space when I left (before my allotted time was up). I hadn’t planned to stay over the lunch period which I recognise would have been busier and my presence may have been more inconvenient (perhaps asking me this would have prevented this situation). To be told this though as I was receiving my food and drink made me feel very uncomfortable and as if I was on some form of timer and being watched. I know it wasn’t meant in any sort of way but that does not mean that I felt unwelcome as a result. Overall, as nice as the place is I don’t think I will return which is a shame but unlike the coffee the welcome or lack thereof has left a bad taste in my mouth.
In reply: Apologies, I must have been mistaken for someone else because I had never been into this cafe before. I live in England and I was visiting family in the area and I can promise that this was my first time there. As shown by my other reviews predominantly based in London...
Read moreAs you walk in to Artisans there is such a lovely and welcoming atmosphere. They are also dog friendly which isn’t true for all cafe’s in Lampeter. The staff smile as you walk in and are very helpful with directing you to the menu and will help with anything necessary. Looking at the menu , I was amazed with the amount of choices and variety of food available. With options for vegans and vegetarians as well as gluten free options , there really is something for everyone at Artisans. I had the pleasure of trying the French Brie, Bacon and Cranberry toasties which was served on a lovely bread with a generous amount of salad and crisps you truly get your moneys worth . I also ordered a hot chocolate with some cream and marshmallows this was delicious and was served at a perfect temperature. The drinks options also vary having many cold drink options as well as decaf options for hot drinks. Overall I was very happy with my experience in Artisans, I was so impressed that later that day I went back in to get some cakes which were presented beautifully on a gorgeous counter with so many options making it hard for me to make a decision! I will definitely be returning to Artisans as soon as possible and will recommend this wonderful cafe to friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful experience and...
Read moreMy wife and I were looking forward to lunch (we have never been here before)... we asked what was suitable for vegans? The (confused) assistant behind the counter said 'we can make you some toast with oil on it'... Wow... Is that really all Artisans has to offer vegans? I would have given no stars , but Google won't let me... UPDATE: Having seen the response from the owner (albeit 2 years later) and seeing the owners defensive and arrogant response to ANY negative reviews I definitely will not be returning... I assume there is still an absolute paucity of vegan options available? Other (far better) local cafes are available, where the management do not have such a high handed and dismissive attitude towards complaints. What happened to 'putting the customer first'? Or listening to complaints with a constructive and positive attitude? And having spoken to other locals, the food is not all that either.... and if you are unhappy with the food or service don't bother complaining as you will get short shrift. Clearly the management have taken a leaf out of the Basil Fawlty school of...
