Shire Coffee at HWYL — Restaurant in Wales

This is probably THE place in Llanelli for a quality coffee enthusiast, but they will find it just a tad not enough. The shots in the milky drinks we ordered tasted rather bitter, so much so that I thought it was a dark roast, but the beans in the hopper didn't look dark, so something had gone wrong with the extraction. The barista seemed confused about the difference between a caffè latte and a latte macchiato, so while this place is definitely an upgrade from your Costa, it's not quite 'speciality coffee' level of expertise. Milk was steamed to a decent standard. Lastly, while the staff were professional enough in manner, they could be a tiny bit friendlier; I believe it makes a world of difference at a café. First time here at shire coffee and definitely not my last. My wife told me about this place via Facebook and it did not disappoint, from the atmosphere to the great tasting coffee it was a delight. The lovely ladies inside even entertained my son with paper and colouring pencils which was a nice touch. If I did have to give any criticism it would be that I ordered a breakfast brioche which was meant to contain streaky bacon which is considered crispy....which it was not (very stringy 😮‍💨). But don't take that as much of a negative as I just like a good moan hahaha. Love this place and will definitely be back. Oh and good value for money too. Well done shire...

Had too think very hard on the experience I had today and i came too the conclusion that the place looked amazing,staff were great,breakfast was disappointing.not sure if the only full English style breakfast was too pretentious.chilli on eggs should be optional.bacon as good quality as explained could be less crisp,tomato could be better,toast should be toast not crostini-so left confused.was a very enthusiastic approach but i prefer sauteed mushrooms-white truffle oil does not make them sexy if boiled.loved the decor hope the...
